About APRS Mobile
APRS Mobile connects your iPhone and iPad straight to APRS-IS, the internet side of the Automatic Packet Reporting System used by amateur radio operators around the world. Watch the stations around you live, look up any station, message other hams and beacon your position. No account needed. Work over your own radio too — with a Bluetooth TNC, or with nothing but an audio cable, using the built-in software modem.
LIVE MAP
• Stations appear the moment they're heard, with their APRS symbols and callsigns
• Tracks, PHG circles and a Layers panel: fixed, mobile and weather stations, digipeaters, IGates, objects and items
• A status bar shows your connection, the server and the traffic
• Map switches for SmartBeacon and Keep Screen On, so you can tell at a glance when they're on

APRS over the air with no TNC, offline maps, and a clearer map.
• Software modem: with an audio cable between your radio and your phone, APRS Mobile can be the modem itself — it decodes 1200 baud APRS from your radio's audio and transmits the same way through a radio set to VOX. A live spectrum, a level meter and a list of decoded packets make setting the audio straightforward.
• Transmitting over the air is now off until you confirm you hold an amateur licence. Receiving needs no licence and is unaffected.
• Offline maps: download OpenStreetMap-based map data for the areas you care about and the map works with no network at all. Downloads resume where they left off, even after the app is closed, and show their progress on the map.
• Via: one control on the map for every link — APRS-IS, a Bluetooth TNC and the software modem — with what each one is doing.
• Background beaconing now says what it will actually do: the map shows when the app keeps asking for your position, and explains what to expect in each mode.
• Station cards carry more: drag one up for how the packet reached you, the grid square, how often the station beacons and the raw packet.
• Messages with offensive language are hidden behind a tap; blocking and reporting are unchanged.
• Long sessions stay light: stations and tracks are pruned by age and by hard limits, so leaving the app running all day can't grow without end.
