About ระนาดเอก
The entire ranat ek (Thai xylophone) is in your hands — play, practice, and tune anytime, anywhere.
The ranat ek app brings the ranat ek to your screen, featuring photos of real ranat ek instruments and a library of Thai sheet music for practice.
■ 23 Ranat Ek Keys
Tap any key to hear it play. Instant response. Play multiple keys simultaneously. Complete note rows are arranged beneath the ranat ek keys. Easy to press even with large fingers or small screens.
■ Play Octoes with One Finger
Activate octave mode and tap a single key to hear that key along with a lower octave, just like playing with two hands.
■ Realistic Rolling Technique
Press and hold = Roll. Alternate between two hands like a human, not a machine-like rapid sound.
Press and hold two keys simultaneously = Two-handed roll, left hand plays lower key, right hand plays higher key.
You can set how long to hold before the roll starts, or turn the roll off altogether.
■ Library of 20 Thai Sheet Music
Practice mode plays the sheet music with accompanying cymbal sound.
• Adjustable speed. • Practice slowly first, then speed up.
• Automatic loop: Practice the same section without having to press again.
• Choose to play with either the ranat ek (xylophone) or gong wong (gong ensemble) sound.
• Listen to free samples of unlocked songs before deciding.
■ 3 Thai Sound Systems
• Royal Thai Tuning
• Fine Arts Department Thai Tuning
• International Tuning (A4 = 440 Hz)
The selected system affects all sounds in the app, not just the tuner.
■ Real-time Tuning Tuner
Use the microphone to listen to your real instrument and hear how high or low the pitch is, with a graph showing the stability of the sound and a "tuning fork" that plays reference notes one by one.
■ MIDI Keyboard Connectivity
Connect a MIDI keyboard or pad via USB-OTG cable or Bluetooth and play all instruments.
■ Screen Lock to Prevent Accidental Touch
Press one button to disable all touch input except for the ranat ek (xylophone). Practice for extended periods without accidentally accessing the menu (free to use).
■ 3 Languages
Thai / English / Chinese (Changeable in settings)
Suitable for:
• Thai music students who want to practice outside the classroom.
• Thai music teachers to use in teaching.
• Those interested in Thai music who don't yet own a real instrument.
• Thais living abroad who miss the sound of Thai music.
Free to Use:
Play all 23 keys of the Ranat Ek (xylophone), octave pairs, and rhythmic playing. Features include a universal sound system, tuner, and 3 practice songs (Ching Mulong - single layer, Lao Siang Thian - double layer, Lao Kruan - double layer). All free to use.
Unlock More:
Other songs in the library can be purchased individually for practice, or opt for Premium to unlock all songs, all sound systems, and remove ads all at once. This is a one-time purchase for lifetime use, not a monthly subscription.
