The Bible describes God's action in the world, and His purposes for creation. The process of writing the Bible took place over 16 centuries and is the product of more than 40 authors. This volume covers an impressive range of literary styles. It offers many stories about the lives of good people and bad people, about battles and journeys, about the life of Jesus, and about the work of the early church. Content is expressed through stories and dialogue, in proverbs and parables, in history and prophecies.
Biblical accounts are often not written at the time they occur. Instead, they are told and told and handed down over the years, before being recorded. However, similar themes can be found throughout the book. Along with the variety, the book has a remarkable consistency throughout.
So what is the Bible? In addition to all of the above, the Bible is also:
