■ ABOUT US
A tiny subcontractor for the prime, Nominal Industries. The mine collapsed, the budget was denied, and all that's left is a few cat miners.
Head Office has never shown its face. Only memos.
■ THE JOB
- Village Merge: mine ore from Stone, Copper, Iron, Gold, and Ruby Veins, then merge matching pieces to rank them up. Deliver what the orders ask for and the crew comes to collect.
- Restore Facilities: as deliveries pile up, the rooms buried in rubble stand back up one by one. The Office, Storage, the Market, the Workshop, the Dig Site.
- Furnish Private Rooms: build Lodging, then open a Private Room for each of your 10 cats and 6 coworkers. The furniture's on you, boss.
- Hiring: stamp the applications. Roxy, the recruiter Head Office sent over, runs the interviews. "Keep expectations moderate."
- Expedition: when your Energy runs out, head down into the Breakthrough. Send cats from your hand to the board and merge matching cats. The cats swing the picks themselves. Every run you clear brings your Energy back.
- Weak spots: every ore vein has a weakness. Build your squad around Precision, Heavy, or Blast to land critical hits.
- OVERHEAT management: every merge fills the gauge. When it's full: OVERHEAT. For a while, everyone hits harder and tires slower.
- Hands-on digging: Ricky runs the Dig Site but has no crew yet. The pickaxe is yours, boss.
■ WORKING CONDITIONS
- Location: a collapsed mine and the mine town above it. It grows with every delivery.
- Hours: until it's all dug up.
- Close the game and the cats keep mining. Your share is settled up when you're back.
- Lodging provided. Private Rooms, however, are yours to build, boss.
- Hazard pay: 320 gold. Allocated. The disbursement date is undetermined.
■ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Able to look the other way when shavings don't make it into the ledger
- The nerve to deal with the Market at the end of the alley. Copper, the fox who runs it, calls it Cost Recovery.
- Comfortable with Off-Book Retrofits nobody signed off on. "The ledger will record this as 'stationery'."
- Cracks open a Treasure Chest and fills in the Collection before anything else
