About Marriage - Nepali Card Game
Play Marriage, the Nepali card game, on your phone. No internet, no waiting for players: deal 21 cards, see the maal card, finish the hand. Want to play with friends or family nearby? Play together on LAN over the same Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot.
गाउँ घरको तास, अब फोनमा। दसैं-तिहारमा खेलेको म्यारिज, देश-विदेश जहाँ भए पनि खेलको मज्जा लिनुहोला।
Marriage is the rummy-like taas game (tass or tash) played in every home during Dashain and Tihar. Living abroad in Korea, the Gulf, Malaysia, the USA or Australia? Bring the game from home with you. Play alone against bots in your free time, or with your Nepali friends and roommates on the same Wi-Fi.
This game uses the words from the table: maal, sequence, tunnela, dublee, dhoos, alter and lamphe.
★ HOW YOU CAN PLAY
• Vs Bots: play offline anytime, no internet needed. Practice your sequences and dublees.
• With Friends: play with family and friends on the same Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot. No internet needed.
• Online multiplayer is planned for a future version.
★ MARRIAGE RULES
• Three 52-card decks are shuffled and each player gets 21 cards.
• On your turn, draw from the stock or take the thrown card, then throw one card.
• Show three pure sets (sequence or tunnela), or 7 dublees, to see the maal.
• Tunnela: three cards of the same suit and number. Pure set: a run of cards in one suit, no joker. Dublee: a true pair, not made with a joker.
• The maal card is the main joker. The cards one above and one below it in the same suit are jokers too. Any card sharing the same rank as the maal card — regardless of its suit — is a joker as well.
• After seeing the maal, complete your remaining sets or dublees to finish the game.
★ THREE GAME MODES
• Classic: the standard Marriage game. Everyone who sees the maal counts their maal.
• Murder: a player who doesn't see the maal becomes dhoos, and their maal doesn't count.
• Kidnap: a player who doesn't see the maal becomes dhoos, and the winner takes their maal points.
★ EXTRA RULES YOU CAN TURN ON
• Lamphe: a special joker played by some groups.
• Alter: an extra scoring rule played by some groups.
• Open Marriage: show the maal to everyone at the start.
★ WHY THIS MARRIAGE
• Marriage the way Nepalese play it.
• Play offline against bots, no internet needed.
• Play with friends on Wi-Fi or hotspot.
• A game for your brain: what to keep, what to throw, when to see the maal.
• No real money and no betting. Just the card game.
New to Marriage? Start with Classic mode and 1 bot. Then step up to 4 bots as you get better.
Played it all your life? You'll find the taas game you grew up with.
Deal 21 cards. See the maal. Win the game.
Enjoy!
