About AL: Anatolian Folk Horror
Three days ago, Yusuf and Emine had a son. When the baby's fever rose, Yusuf went down to the town for medicine. On the way back a flood cut the road, and he reached the village only at midnight, on foot.
The lanterns are lit. The doors are shut. No dog barks, no window opens.
Everyone who grew up in Anatolia knows: a new mother and her newborn must never be left alone for forty days. Iron goes under the pillow. A red ribbon is tied to the cradle. Because someone waits in the dark — someone with tangled hair, whose voice sounds like a woman you know.
They call her the Al — Al Karısı in Turkish, Albasty in the steppes.
You have a flashlight, a few batteries, and six hours until the dawn call to prayer.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
A TURKISH FOLK HORROR GAME
AL is a first-person horror game rooted in real Anatolian folk beliefs and the Al Karısı (Albasty) legend of Turkish mythology: a dark village, old superstitions, and something that moves when you are not looking.
PROTECT THE CRADLE
Search abandoned houses for the five protective charms of folk tradition and place them around the cradle before the Al comes for the child.
YOUR LIGHT IS YOUR ONLY WEAPON
The Al fears the light. Keep your flashlight on her and she retreats — but every second drains your batteries.
FOLLOW THE WET FOOTPRINTS
Read the letters left behind by the villagers, uncover what happened to them, and learn what the Al really wants.
MULTIPLE ENDINGS
Survive until dawn, or find another way. Some endings are kind. Most are not. Collect them all, along with torn pages of forgotten folklore.
MADE FOR HEADPHONES
Whispers, footsteps above you, a lullaby from the well. Play with headphones. Haptic feedback lets you feel the Al drawing near.
