Aurora Hunter: Northern Lights

Chasing the Northern Lights?

Aurora Hunter helps you decide when to go out and where to look. It brings together aurora activity, cloud cover, local weather, wind, live webcams, space weather data and community sightings in one app.

PLAN AROUND REAL SKY CONDITIONS
A strong aurora can still be hidden by clouds or twilight. Check local cloud cover, weather, wind and light conditions before you leave.

AURORA FORECAST & LIVE MAP
Follow the auroral oval and local aurora activity. Compare conditions around your location and understand whether activity is developing nearby.

SPACE WEATHER, WITHOUT THE GUESSWORK
Track KP index, solar wind speed, particle density and Bz. Use these values as context alongside local sky conditions instead of relying on a single number.

FIND CLEARER SKIES
Use cloud and wind maps to understand where clearer areas may open and compare nearby locations before driving.

LIVE WEBCAMS & COMMUNITY SIGHTINGS
Check selected Northern Lights webcams and real-time reports from other aurora hunters. If your sky is cloudy, see what is happening elsewhere.

LOCAL WEATHER
Temperature, cloud layers, forecast trends and wind help you plan a night outside with more confidence.

LEARN & PLAN YOUR TRIP
Learn how aurora forecasts work, how to choose a viewing spot and how to interpret space-weather data. Discover selected local Northern Lights tours and guides in popular destinations.

Designed for trips to Iceland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Lapland, Alaska, Canada and other aurora destinations.

Aurora Hunter is built for first-time travellers, photographers and experienced aurora chasers who want better information before heading into the dark.
