About Backsolve
Backsolve is a daily word-deduction puzzle with a different starting point: a finished set of five guesses. Every letter is visible. Every clue is in place. One secret word fits them all.
Read between the guesses. Work out what the annotations mean together. Then make your one submission — and see the answer, whether you found it or not.
A LITTLE DAILY DEDUCTION
A daily puzzle that starts gentle and reaches full difficulty from your eleventh completed day, with each new entry at midnight UTC. Skipped days never reset your difficulty progress. No timer. A daily completion streak is saved only on your device. Both solved and unsolved submissions count.
PROGRESS ON YOUR DEVICE
Your streak, daily difficulty progress and latest daily result are separate on each device. Completing a daily puzzle on your iPhone won’t update your iPad, or vice versa. There is no iCloud sync, even when both devices use the same Apple Account.
PRACTISE AT YOUR OWN PACE
Want another? Practice mode gives you unlimited fresh puzzles, whenever you like. Choose Easy, Medium or Hard; your choice is saved on this device. Your practice choice is independent of your personal daily progression.
FAIR BY DESIGN
Every puzzle is checked against the full bundled dictionary to make sure exactly one word fits every clue. Repeated letters are counted carefully, and answers come from a selected everyday vocabulary.
