About Backtalk: Reverse Audio Game
One player says a word. The app plays it backwards. Everyone else copies the gibberish — and when the app flips their attempts back, the word comes out again, in their voices.
When it lands, it's uncanny. When it doesn't — which is most of the time at first — it's much funnier.
HOW A ROUND WORKS
1. One player says a word out loud. Nobody else sees it.
2. The app reverses it. The others hear only gibberish, slowed down and looped as often as they need.
3. One by one, they copy that gibberish as closely as they can.
4. The app reverses every attempt. You listen together — and the phone scores how close each one came.
That fourth step is the whole game.
ONE PHONE, UP TO SIX PLAYERS
No accounts, no second device, no turn timers. Record, hand it over, mimic, reveal. Everyone gets a silly name — Suspicious Potato, Captain Dumpling — or types their own.
NEW: CHALLENGES
No one around? Crack backwards words on your own. Hear a word reversed, record what you heard, flip your take back to check it, then type the answer. Categories like animals, food, movies, slang, mild swears and fairy tales, with levels from one easy word to short phrases. Separate English and Ukrainian word lists, not translations. Only a wrong answer costs one of your 3 lives; listening and recording are always free.
WHO GOT CLOSEST
The phone scores every attempt — how close it sounds to the original, as a percentage — and crowns the closest. It listens to sound, not meaning, so arguing with it is part of the game.
YOU CANNOT CHEAT IT
The prompt is silenced while a copy is recording. That isn't a rule you're asked to follow, it's built into the app: if the original were audible, the reveal would replay the speaker's voice and the game would stop meaning anything.
SHARE THE DISASTERS
Any round exports as one video — the word, the word reversed, then every attempt flipped back, with the crowned one saved for last. It's the funniest thing the app makes and the fastest way to explain the game to someone who hasn't played.
EVERY ROUND, SAVED
Rounds save to your history by themselves, with every voice. Replay the best fails, favourite them, or play them back as a robot, a chipmunk or a monster. If you allow it, Apple's speech recognition writes the word on the round so your history shows what each one was.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
No account, no sign-up, no analytics, and no ad you didn't choose. Recordings stay on your device and videos are put together on the phone. Ads (Google AdMob) load only when you pick one for a bonus; otherwise the app's only network call of its own is a daily App Store check for a new version. Naming rounds is optional and uses Apple's speech recognition, which may send the recorded word to Apple when the phone can't recognise it by itself.
FREE TO PLAY
5 party rounds free, refilling every 4 hours — however many are playing. Replays, retakes, labels and sharing never cost a round. In Challenges, 4 categories are free, with 3 lives that all come back 4
