Review momentum
ⓘ How we measure thisReview momentum (0-100) blends how fast the app collects ratings compared with other apps in its category (60%), whether that pace is speeding up (25%) and what recent raters give it (15%; recent stars well below lifetime pull it down). Ratings counts are read daily. A jump usually means a launch, a feature, ads or a new review prompt.
About Carrying The Fire
Albany-Kinjarling will glow with light and unity as thousands of handmade lanterns illuminate the coastline all the way from Emu Point to Binalup / Middleton Beach. We will gather along the sand, transforming the foreshore into a breathtaking string of lights: a living, ephemeral artwork captured in footage to be shared worldwide.
ABOUT THE APP
To create a truly unique event and visual spectacle, we have engaged creative technologist Andy O'Neil to program an app and soundscape to light up the full length of the beach. The app syncs your phone to a pre-programmed lighting design that turns your torch light on and off in customised sequences.
The effect will result in a breathtaking string of lights, moving as one: a living, ephemeral artwork to be captured in footage to be shared worldwide.
ABOUT
At 7pm on the night of Saturday, 7 November 2026, the Albany coastline from Emu Point to Binalup/Middleton Beach will glow with the warmth of thousands of handmade lanterns.
Initiated, produced, and presented by FORM in collaboration with Creative Producer Southern Edge Arts and Artistic Director Annette Carmichael, Carrying the Fire is a large-scale, community-led participatory artwork celebrating our community spirit and shared future.
We respectfully acknowledge the Menang Noongar people as the Traditional Custodians of Kinjarling (Albany), the land and waters on which Carrying the Fire takes place. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and honour their enduring connection to Country, culture, and community.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
1. Register to Attend: Event night relies on collective participation by the public to shape the artwork.
2. Build your Lantern: Join a free community workshop with all materials provided, or make one at home using step-by-step DIY guides.
3. Download the App: The app syncs your phone torch to a soundscape, so the whole beach lights up as one. Drones will film it from above.
4. Join the Event: Arrive at your zone by 6:30pm on 7 November with your lantern and phone to walk the coastline. We will send your zone and full instructions 10 days before the event.
