Cladewright: Tree Studio

Cladewright is a private phylogenetic tree workspace for Newick and NEXUS files. Keep multiple trees in a local library, inspect topology and branch lengths, join trait metadata, document review notes, and export a complete analysis packet without creating an account or uploading research data.

TREE LIBRARY

- Import a Newick or NEXUS file, paste tree text, or begin with one of three worked examples.
- Keep multiple projects on the device, duplicate a tree before editing, and return to recent work instantly.
- Parse quoted taxon labels, nested comments, support values, branch lengths, NEXUS tree blocks, and TRANSLATE tables.
- Receive an explicit error when malformed or unsafe branch-length data cannot be interpreted.

VISUAL INSPECTION

- Switch between rectangular and radial layouts.
- Compare topology spacing with branch-length scaling.
- Ladderize branches or collapse clades below a selected support threshold.
- Search taxa, select nodes, focus on a clade, and reroot at an internal branch.
- Color terminal nodes from imported or manually entered trait rows.

TRAITS AND AUDIT

- Import quoted trait CSV data and edit taxon, group, value, color, and notes.
- Check terminal labels, duplicate taxa, branch-length completeness, trait coverage, and interpretation-note readiness.
- Keep method sources and the limits of the app's analysis visible beside the audit.

REVIEWABLE EXPORTS

- Share normalized Newick and NEXUS tree files.
- Export trait metadata as CSV and the rendered tree as scalable SVG.
- Create a four-page PDF report or share a complete packet containing every format. The packet contains portable files and a report; it is not a full app-state backup.

Cladewright works offline. It contains no account system, subscription, advertising, tracking, third-party analytics SDK, external purchase, or developer-operated network service. Projects remain in the app's private container unless you explicitly choose a file through Apple's document picker or select a destination in the iOS share sheet.

Cladewright inspects supplied topology and metadata. Inference method, alignment quality, model choice, rooting assumptions, and biological conclusions remain the responsibility of the user and source study.
