About Colosseum: Tessera Audio Guide
Stand where gladiators fought, senators argued, and emperors ruled — with a guide that tells you the real story, right when you're looking at it.
Tessera takes you through three of Rome's most important ancient sites in one app: the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Palatine Hill. 69 stops, each a short, vivid story — not a summary, a story that makes the stones make sense.
WHAT'S INSIDE
- The Colosseum: the arena floor, the hypogeum beneath it, the gladiators' gates, the engineering that let 50,000 people take their seats in fifteen minutes
- The Roman Forum: the political and religious heart of ancient Rome — temples, the Senate house, the spot where Julius Caesar was cremated
- The Palatine Hill: where Rome itself was founded, and where emperors later built their palaces
HOW IT WORKS
- Walk up to a spot and the guide offers you its story; nothing ever starts playing on its own. Or pick any point from the list and listen right now
- An interactive map shows exactly where you are and what's nearby
- Curated routes for however much time you have, from the essentials in under two hours to the full 69-stop walk
- Works fully offline once downloaded, so you're not depending on a signal at the site
- 8 languages: English, Russian, Spanish, German, Italian, French, Portuguese, Chinese
A few stops are free to try before you buy. One purchase unlocks everything, for good — no subscription.

The Colosseum finally works the way the Colosseum does. Under all that stone there is no GPS and a map cannot help, so its twenty-seven stops are now a list arranged by where you are standing: outside before the entrance, the first tier after security, the rail above the arena. Touch a line and the story begins without leaving the list.
Also in this version:
• Three places, one guide — the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine. Switching between them takes you nowhere: the tab simply shows the place you picked.
• A short walkthrough on first launch, run on the app itself rather than on pictures of it.
• A rebuilt player: scrub the bar, change the speaking speed, step to neighbouring stories, or open the text and photograph of the one you are hearing.
• Lists scroll faster and screens open quicker.
