About Combat Aces: WWI
The skies over the Western Front have become a chessboard.
Combat Aces is a different kind of WWI dogfighting game. Instead of testing your reflexes with complicated flight controls, it asks you to think like a fighter pilot. Read the fight, choose your maneuver, manage your energy, and try to figure out what the other pilot is going to do before he does it.
Each dogfight unfolds one decision at a time through a book-inspired maneuver system. Climb, dive, turn, build speed, and fight for position. Get it right and you may find yourself on the enemy’s tail. Get it wrong and he may be on yours.
Speed and energy matter. Push the aeroplane too hard and you can stall, spin, overspeed, or even suffer structural failure. Gunfire and collisions can damage your engine, controls, and airframe, and that damage changes the way your aeroplane flies.
Sometimes winning the fight is only half the battle. A damaged aeroplane may leave you with another decision: keep fighting or break off and try to make it home.
Take command of your squadron, keep your pilots alive, build victories, and see who survives long enough to become an ace.
