About CTD Live Mobile
CTD Live Mobile turns your iPhone or iPad into a fast, tactile remote control for OBS Studio. It connects to the OBS WebSocket server (obs-websocket 5.x, built into OBS 28 and later) and lets you run a live production from across the room — no extra screen, no clutter on your stream machine.
Built for streamers, AV operators, houses of worship, classrooms, esports, and anyone who runs a multi-camera show in OBS.
REQUIRES OBS STUDIO
CTD Live Mobile is a remote control. It does nothing on its own. You need OBS Studio (free, open source) running on a separate Mac, PC, or Linux machine, with the WebSocket server enabled under Tools → WebSocket Server Settings. Your iPhone or iPad and the OBS machine must be on the same network.
CONNECT IN SECONDS
• Scan the QR code from OBS (Tools → WebSocket Server Settings → Show Connect Info) with your camera, or
• Enter host, port, and password by hand.
• Supports obsws://, ws:// (plaintext), and wss:// (TLS) connections.
LIVE MULTIVIEW
• A grid of live thumbnails for every scene, refreshed over the socket.
• Tap a scene to preview it or cut it straight to air.
STUDIO MODE, DONE RIGHT
• Full preview-to-program workflow with a dedicated TAKE button.
• Hold to quick-cut a focused angle directly to air, then release.
STREAM & RECORD CONTROL
• Start and stop streaming.
• Start and stop recording.
• Live stream and record timecode and on-air status at a glance.
AUTOMATION
• Build scene playlists and trigger rules to automate sequences.
• Map scenes, cuts, recording, and audio mute/volume to controller buttons.
FULL GAME-CONTROLLER SUPPORT
• Drive the show with an Xbox, PlayStation, or MFi controller (GameController framework).
• Steer a yellow focus ring with the d-pad or stick, then cut or preview with a button.
• Custom button bindings and an on-screen controller help map.
DESIGNED FOR THE DEVICE
• The deck measures your screen and picks a layout shaped for it — a phone upright, a tablet upright, or either of them turned on its side.
• On iPad it runs in Split View and Slide Over, so the deck can sit beside your rundown, your chat or a timer.
• Ready for folding screens: it reflows as the phone opens and closes.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no ads, no trackers.
• Collects no personal data of any kind.
• Talks only to the OBS server you configure. Settings and OBS passwords stay on your device.
Camera access is used solely to scan the OBS connect-info QR code. Local Network access is used solely to reach your OBS server on the LAN.

Latest updates
2.1.0
Version 2.1.0 makes this a real iPad app, and gets it ready for a folding phone.
SHARPER PREVIEWS
Frames were always fetched at a fixed size chosen for a phone, however large they were actually drawn — so on an iPad you were looking at upscaled thumbnails. The app now asks OBS for the size each pane will really be drawn at, and measures again whenever the screen changes: rotate it, resize it, plug in a display. Low-spec / low-data mode is untouched, since asking for less is that mode's whole job.
THE DECK FILLS THE IPAD
The layout used to be picked by asking one question — is the screen taller than it is wide. That has two answers, for a range of screens running from a phone held upright to a tablet on its side. It is now picked by measuring the screen and taking the layout closest to its shape. On an 11-inch iPad that is the difference between roughly a fifth of the glass going unused and one or two percent of it, in both orientations.
A fresh install on a tablet also picks its opening layout from how many scenes you actually have, so you don't start on a grid with a row of empty boxes in it.
SPLIT VIEW AND SLIDE OVER
The app no longer demands the whole screen. Run the deck beside your rundown, your chat, your notes or a timer — it reflows to whatever width you give it, and TAKE stays where your thumb can reach it at every size.
READY FOR IPHONE DUO
Built against the iOS 27 SDK. Opened out, the deck uses a new near-square layout with PREVIEW and PROGRAM side by side above a 3x4 scene grid. Closed, it uses the tall phone stack. It reflows as the phone folds, the same way it already reflows when you rotate one.
A WALKTHROUGH ON FIRST LAUNCH
The step everyone gets stuck on is finding the WebSocket settings inside OBS. There is now a short animated walkthrough showing exactly where they live — Tools, WebSocket Server Settings, Enable, Show Connect Info — and how to scan the code OBS puts on screen. You can scan from any slide rather than waiting for the end. Replay it any time from Settings, About, and it is offered again when you add a second OBS machine.
FIXED
• Adding, renaming or removing a scene in OBS could briefly leave a tile showing the wrong feed.
• A tablet held upright could be given a layout built for a phone, stranding a third of the screen.
