About Dashboard for ECOWITT Weather
Weathervane turns readings from your Ecowitt weather station into a clear, detailed dashboard for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Free, with no ads and no account to create.
Connect directly to your gateway on your home Wi-Fi, or use Ecowitt Cloud to check your stations from anywhere. Weathervane shows only the readings your station and sensors provide, with no empty sections for equipment you don't have.
See temperature, humidity, dew point, feels like, pressure, wind, rainfall, solar radiation, UV, air quality, CO2, lightning, soil moisture, soil temperature and conductivity, leaf wetness, water leaks, distance and depth, battery levels, signal strength and more.
APPLE WATCH
Your station on your wrist, with complications for your watch face. Pick any of your stations right on the watch. With Ecowitt Cloud, the watch reads your station itself, so complications stay up to date even when your iPhone isn't nearby.
ALERTS
Get notified about the weather, your sensors and your devices: high and low temperatures, frost tonight, strong wind and gusts, rain starting and stopping, heavy rain, lightning nearby, falling pressure, humidity, air quality, a daily summary, sensors that stop reporting, low batteries, a station going offline and firmware updates. Set quiet hours so alerts wait until morning.
WATER-LEAK ALARM
With a WH55 leak sensor, Weathervane sounds a distinct rising alarm the moment water is detected, shows a red warning on your dashboard and watch, and tells you when it's dry again.
HISTORY AND RECORDS
Graphs from one hour to a month. Tap any graph to see the exact reading and time. The Records screen keeps your highs, lows and totals from today back to all-time. Export your data as a CSV file.
FORECAST
A 5-day forecast with a one-line summary and each day's chance of rain, plus sunrise, sunset and the moon phase. In the US, add a live radar map and the National Weather Service's written forecast for each day.
FEATURES
• Apple Watch app and complications

• Water-leak alarm
• Live radar and written forecasts (US)
• Siri and Shortcuts

Latest updates
2.2
Weathervane 2.2 brings full-screen charts, more sensors, a redesigned Apple Watch app, and many fixes from your reports.
NEW
• Full-screen charts: tap the expand arrow on Rainfall or any sensor card for a landscape chart. Rain shows 7 days, 1 month or 1 year; sensors show 24 hours up to a month.
• Main rain gauge: stations with both a piezo and a tipping-bucket gauge (WH40) can choose which one is the main rain total.
• Water timers and smart plugs: WFC01 and WFC02 water timers and the AC1100 plug now appear with their status and readings.
• Weather cameras: an HP10 camera shows its latest photo. Tap it for full screen.
• SD-card history: on a GW3000, newer GW2000 or HP2560 console with a microSD card, charts fill in from the card for up to a month.
• A new, realistic moon on the Sky card.
APPLE WATCH
• Redesigned app: a large outdoor temperature with humidity, and the other readings in an icon grid on one screen.
• New "Station details" complication for larger watch-face slots.
SENSORS
• WH46D: PM1 and PM4 readings, plus the sensor's own temperature and humidity.
• WH52 soil sensors, WN34 probes and WN30/WN36 thermometers read more reliably.
• Sensors no longer disappear after recent GW2000 and GW1100 firmware updates.
• Sensors of the same type are grouped together.
• A sensor that stops reporting shows "No signal" instead of vanishing.
• Sensor history from Ecowitt Cloud now fills in up to a month.
DEVICES & FIRMWARE
• Tap a gateway's firmware version to check for an update; it names the new version when known.
• The original GW1000 is recognised, and you're guided to connect it through Ecowitt Cloud.
• Cleaner Devices list: the outdoor array appears as one line under its gateway.
IMPROVEMENTS
• Card graphs always show the last 24 hours, with the high and low marked.
• Lightning distance in kilometres is easier to find in Settings.
• Solar readings are always in W/m², with an option for kilolux.
• Large temperatures no longer get cut off on smaller iPhones.
• Local stations show their last reading instantly when the app opens.
• The share image is tidier, with matching card sizes.
2.1
Weathervane 2.1 is a big update: a redesigned outdoor card, live radar and written forecasts, an Apple Watch complication that keeps itself up to date, support for more Ecowitt sensors, and many fixes from your reports. Thank you to everyone who wrote in.
NEW OUTDOOR CARD
- A sky that changes with the weather: rain, night, and a color for how warm it is (dark mode keeps the familiar dark card).
- A glass thermometer beside the temperature, with today's high and low marked on it.
- Bigger temperature, today's forecast in one line ("Tonight: Partly cloudy."), the current sky as an icon, and your outdoor sensor's battery.
RADAR AND WRITTEN FORECASTS (US)
- A live NOAA radar map under the 5-day forecast, refreshed every 40 minutes. Turn it on or off in Settings.
- Written National Weather Service forecasts: each day's outlook under the 5-day forecast; tap a day for the full day and night text. On iPad the forecast card shows the next few periods too.
- Uses your station's location, or your phone's if the station has none.
APPLE WATCH
- With Ecowitt Cloud, the watch now reads your station itself, so the complication stays current even when the iPhone app isn't running.
RAIN
- Stations with two rain gauges (a built-in piezo gauge plus a WH40 or WN40) now show both.
- The Rainfall card leads with the rate while it's raining, otherwise with today's or this week's total. A pulsing drop shows when it's raining now.
- Inches are written as 0.12"/today and 0.00"/hour.
- A WH40 now shows on gateways that report rain in a different format.
MORE SENSORS, AND FIXES FOR THEM
- WN35 leaf wetness sensors now appear.
- WH52 soil sensors show moisture, soil temperature and conductivity (EC), with charts.
- WN34 temperature probes and WH41/WH43 PM2.5 sensors now appear over Ecowitt Cloud.
- WH45/WH46 air quality shows PM2.5, PM10, temperature and humidity over the cloud, not just CO2.
- WN38 black globe readings now appear over the cloud.
- LDS01 water-level sensors: correct readings in feet or metres, never hidden, a real zero depth shown, and a new Distance unit in Settings.
- Consoles like the WN1980 and HP2560: sensors recognised by name, and no more false low-battery warnings.
- Every sensor type has its own colour; garden sensors are green.
- Gateways with no weather station now get charts for indoor temperature, humidity, pressure and water level.
UNITS AND SETTINGS
- Outside the US, units now follow your region from the start: Celsius, millimetres, km/h and hPa. Any unit you've chosen yourself is kept.
- Wind speed can now be shown in knots or metres per second.
- Lightning distance in miles or kilometres.
- Settings only shows the choices that apply to your station.
- Readings use your region's decimal mark (21,5 or 21.5).
ALERTS
- New "Rain has stopped" alert, alongside "It just started raining".
- The daily summary covers every station, with a new layout, and every alert shows a picture of the conditions.
- PM2.5 alerts now include WH41/WH43 sensors, and low-battery alerts work for Ecowitt Cloud stations.
ALSO IMPROVED
- Settings > Devices shows sensor IDs, so you can match each one to your hardware.
- The "Email Us" report includes what the app found on your network, so problems can be fixed faster.
- A simpler Ecowitt sign-in that always reuses your existing API keys.
- Demo mode: each sample station has its own weather and sensors.
- Many smaller fixes and refinements.
