About Dorebit
Dorebit is an ear-training app that builds your ear step by step with quizzes. Listen, answer, and hear the correct note sung back, so each sound and its name stick together.
■ FOUR KINDS OF QUIZZES
• Notes: hear a single note or a short melody and answer on the keyboard
• Chords: name the chord you hear
• Chord progressions: put the chords you hear in order
Levels rise as you improve. See how far you can get before time runs out.
■ ANSWERS SUNG BACK
The correct notes are sung in solfège. Choose Fixed Do, Movable Do, numbers or note names (C D E) to hear them your way. The voice can be Japanese or English.
■ KEYBOARD AND MIDI
Check any note on the on-screen keyboard, or connect a Bluetooth MIDI keyboard. You can also play along with a chord-progression backing.
■ SEE WHAT TO WORK ON
High scores, accuracy and a mastery map show what to practice next. Today's 4 Questions and streak rewards help you keep a daily habit.
■ COMPOSE
Hum a melody or play music, and the app analyzes its melody, tempo and chords on your device and turns it into a song. Fix the notes, add lyrics and chords, play it with accompaniment, and save it as a video to Photos (MIDI, MusicXML and WAV export are supported too).
■ PLAYBACK
Listen to the built-in songs (children's songs, classical, gospel, world folk, Christmas and more), each 1.5–3 minutes long, in genre playlists. Add your own compositions and play them like a music player.
■ PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your practice records and songs stay on your device. Audio from the microphone is analyzed on the device only.
■ PRICING
Free to use with ads. Importing songs and exporting videos each take a short ad and are limited to once a day, and you can keep up to 3 songs you made. An in-app purchase removes ads and those limits, adds MIDI, MusicXML and WAV export, and lets you start quizzes at higher levels anytime (free players can unlock this for the day by watching an ad).
The app's screens are available in Japanese, English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese; voices are in Japanese and English. Works in portrait and landscape on iPhone and iPad.
