About DreamJob: Career Simulator
You shouldn't choose a career you've never tried.
At 17, everyone asks what you want to do with your life, and all you have is advice from a relative, a few videos, and a quiz that says you're "creative." DreamJob does the opposite: it lets you live a workday in 40 careers, and tells you which ones are most like you.
A DAY AS A PROFESSIONAL
The simulation is a role-playing game. For one day, you are the doctor, the architect, the airline pilot, the chef, or the game designer. You show up for work, meet coworkers, clients, and bosses, and in every scene you decide what to do. You see right away how it went, then move on to the next scene. If you don't know what to do, you can ask for help: nobody gets it wrong just because they don't know the job yet.
EVERY DAY IS DIFFERENT
10 scenes per day, drawn from 50 situations written for each career, with people and places that change: thousands of combinations. Your second day won't look like your first, and your third won't either.
HOW IT WENT
2 questions about what you liked and what was hard, then the story of your day and your score on 5 sides of that career, explained line by line. You find out if a career fits you before you choose it, not after.
THE TEST, 30 QUESTIONS IN 5 MINUTES
The questions are about real things, not about who you wish you were. At the end you know your top 3 worlds out of 6, and you see, career by career, how close each one is to you as a percentage. Retake it whenever you want: you won't answer the same way at 15 and at 18.
40 CAREERS, TOLD LIKE THEY ARE
Every card has a real workday hour by hour, what you need and what you don't, the path from high school to your first job, what you study, the 5 colleges that award the most degrees in that field, what it pays, the good and the bad, and 3 questions to ask yourself before you choose it.
EVERY NUMBER HAS ITS SOURCE
The test follows John Holland's RIASEC model, the same one behind the U.S. Department of Labor's O*NET Interest Profiler. Colleges come from IPEDS, the National Center for Education Statistics. Graduate earnings come from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard, and pay from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
WHAT IT COSTS
The test, the 40 cards, and your first simulated day are free. Then it's up to you: 10 days for $9.99, which never expire, or Unlimited for $39.99, as many days as you want in all 40 careers, forever. You pay once: no subscription, no renewal.
NO ACCOUNT, NO INTERNET NEEDED
No sign-up, no ads. You don't need internet: even the simulation works on a plane. Your name, your photo, your answers, and your days stay on your phone and are never sent to anyone.
WHO IT'S FOR
For middle schoolers getting ready for high school, for high schoolers who don't know what comes next, for college freshmen who realized they picked a major in the dark. For anyone who dreamed of a career for years without ever trying it. And for parents, who can read the same cards before giving advice.
