About Driftbound: Idle Space RPG
A mining run, a profitable trade route, or one more pirate to take down. What does your ship need next?
Driftbound is an idle space RPG where you start with one ship and work your way from the safe core worlds to the lawless rim. Mine, craft, trade and fight through a procedurally generated universe. Set your ship to work, close the game and come back to see how it went.
MAKE A LIVING IN SPACE
Mine asteroid belts, harvest gas, scan for salvage and turn raw materials into better gear. Stations have their own economies, so a full cargo hold is worth more if you know where to sell it. Take delivery jobs, follow leads from station residents, or carry contraband past customs if you're willing to risk your cargo.
PICK A SIDE IN THE FACTION WAR
Earn a faction's trust and take its oath. Complete three Orders a week, climb ten Merit ranks and choose a doctrine that suits how you play. Patrols, deliveries and scans help push your side's front. Watch systems change hands, hunt named captains, intercept convoys and work towards a Warlord's stronghold. Special war encounters wait for you to start the fight.
BUILD A SHIP THAT CAN HANDLE IT
Fit weapons, shields, engines and cargo upgrades. Craft equipment, collect rare modules and choose perks for the jobs you enjoy. Fight pirates with automatic weapons, then decide when to fire a missile, repair or get out. Better gear opens up tougher places with better salvage.
THERE'S MORE AFTER YOUR FIRST RUN
Follow the campaign and faction stories, hatch space pets and collect outfits and trophies. Re-enlist to earn Renown for permanent Admiralty upgrades. Push into harder Deep Runs or descend into the Undertow to see how far your build can take you. Your pets stay with you when you re-enlist.
PLAY AT YOUR OWN PACE
Travel, work, pet incubation and ordinary combat can progress while you're away. The return report shows what happened, and you can carry on with a mission or change your plans. Offline play works without the online features. Connect when you want to trade with other players on the Exchange, see nearby pilots or try a friendly duel.
No ads, in-app purchases or subscriptions. No account signup required. Pixel-art ships and worlds, adjustable text size, and nine languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Czech, Bulgarian and Simplified Chinese.

Latest updates
1.9.11
Driftbound 1.9.11: the Drift Forge gets its own page, the Codex gets a Journal, a People page and a Loot Log, and the map search finds goods.
The Drift Forge has a page of its own. The Workbench opens on a Bench / Drift Forge switch, so an ordinary craft is no longer a scroll past the whole Drift book. On the forge page every ingredient says where it drops, turns amber when you are short and opens its sheet on a tap, with the nine materials and their rules underneath.
Search for a good, and see everyone who sells it. The map's destination search now matches what a market stocks, so typing a weapon core lists the stations that carry one. An item's sheet has an All sellers list, nearest first, with a course to each.
Three new records in the Codex, all kept through re-enlistment. A Mission Journal: every mission you have finished, who gave it, the briefing and the debrief, the choice you made and what it paid. A People page: everyone you have spoken to, with a course home and the missions you ran for them. A Loot Log: rare finds and better, eggs, keepsakes, gear, modules and every reward, newest first, each with the belt, wreck, derelict, mission or person it came from. Any item's sheet now lists everywhere you have found it.
A Space Farm's Pet Market buys your spare eggs back at a quarter of the shelf price.
A banked Overclock is now kept for a haul of an hour or more, and its gold button no longer fires when you were only scrolling the recap.
The back control follows you down a long page, so a Shipyard slot or a Codex list can be left from wherever you are.
1.9.9
Driftbound 1.9.9: the Vault gets the hold's tools, and the stable forages in one tap.
The Vault can sell and bin for itself. Scrap parked in the Vault used to have to come back aboard, through a possibly full hold, before you could sell it or get rid of it. The Vault screen now has its own Sell salvage button, which sells combat leavings straight out of storage at that station and leaves crafting materials, shipyard parts, pet food, mission goods and anything you have locked exactly where they are, and its own Dump trash button for anything you have flagged. Opening a stored item now offers Sell, Move to Ship, Dump, Lock and Mark trash, not just Move to Ship.
One tap for the whole stable. Send all foraging and Collect all hauls sit above the Pets roster, each showing how many pets it will act on, with a single message totting up what everyone brought home.
The Locker says what the little star number next to a forged piece is: the forge roll, which scales a piece's stats while it is fitted. Higher is better.
Fixed, from a report on an iPhone 13 mini: the bar that appears while you are selecting cargo boxes sat under the tab menu on iPhones with a home indicator, hiding Sell, Vault, Merge and Dump. It now rises with the menu.
1.9.8
Driftbound 1.9.8: two fixes, both reported on r/Driftbound.
The war rank that would not land. A Major Order is judged at the weekly tick, Thursday at 00:00 UTC, and half of the judgement is whether you finished one of the week's Orders. That half was reading the Orders from a list that is only rebuilt once the game is open, so unless Driftbound happened to be running in the background at the tick, every week counted zero Orders finished and no rank landed. Your Merit was always banked. The judge now reads what your save says you completed, so it works whether the app was open at the tick or not. If you finished an Order in a week that was never credited, that Major Order pays out the first time you open this build, and the rank with it. The weekly Debrief now also says which half fell short when one does.
Refining while away. Refining, fabrication and crafting left running when the app was closed stopped after filling the boxes that were free at the moment you left, called the hold full and cleared the job. They now go on in steps, each as big as the hold can take, and stop where the live tick does: out of inputs, at the auto-stop target, or with a hold that is full even once the ore is gone.
