Easy Referee Timer

Referee Timer is a straightforward match timer built for amateur soccer referees who officiate practice matches and local games. It runs entirely on your Apple Watch, letting you focus on what happens on the pitch instead of digging out your phone.

The app has two modes.

Referee Mode
Set your base half length between 5 and 60 minutes (default 45), start the timer, and let the app handle the rest. When play stops for injury, substitution, or any other reason, tap once to pause. When play resumes, the app automatically accumulates that paused time as Additional Time. Once the base half length is reached, the display turns orange so you know the moment you cross the threshold. The Additional Time indicator stays visible at all times, so you always know how much time to add at the end of the half.

Stopwatch Mode
A clean stopwatch that counts up to 59 minutes 59 seconds, with hundredths of a second precision. Record up to five split times during a session — useful for warmups, drills, or timing training intervals.

Designed for real match conditions

Who is this for
This app is designed for amateur referees officiating practice matches, youth matches, local leagues, and training sessions. It is not intended as a certified match-official device for competitive tournaments, where dedicated equipment and official protocols apply.

We built Referee Timer because we wanted something that just works, without paying a monthly fee for a timer we use for ninety minutes at a time. If that sounds like what you need, we hope you enjoy using it as much as we enjoyed building it.
