FogMap: Your World Revealed

How much of the Earth will you uncover in your lifetime?

FogMap covers the whole world in a fog of war, just like a classic strategy game. Wherever you go, the fog lifts. Over months and years, your map becomes a living record of every street, city and country you've explored in your life.

RECORDS IN THE BACKGROUND, EVEN WHEN THE APP IS CLOSED
You never need to open FogMap to record. Allow "Always" location access and it keeps revealing your map in the background, even after the app is closed or swiped away. Just live your life. FogMap remembers where you've been.

BATTERY-FRIENDLY BY DESIGN
Lifting fog isn't navigation. FogMap uses low-power location instead of continuous high-accuracy GPS, so it can run every day, for years.

A LIFETIME RECORD IN YOUR PRIVATE iCLOUD
Your footprints sync to your own private iCloud. Get a new iPhone, sign in with the same Apple Account, and your whole history comes back, whether that's next year or ten years from now. A spatial database built for millions of points keeps the map smooth no matter how much you explore.

SEE HOW MUCH OF THE WORLD YOU'VE EXPLORED
• The percentage of the world's land you've revealed, total area, countries and World Heritage sites visited
• Ten explorer ranks and milestones designed to keep unlocking for 30 years
• For every country: how much you've explored, your first and latest visits
• A footprint calendar showing each day you discovered somewhere new

TIME MACHINE
Replay your life of exploration in the order you lived it, from your very first step to today. Watch the fog lift across cities and continents, on a timeline that marks the first time you entered each country.

"WHEN WAS I FIRST HERE?"
Long-press anywhere you've revealed to see the date of your first visit, then replay that day.

AI PLACE GUIDE
Tap a point of interest on the map to see its details and an AI-written introduction, then ask follow-up questions about its history, architecture or stories. More than 1,200 UNESCO World Heritage sites appear on the map with their official descriptions, and you can ask about those too. New users get 10 free credits; more are available as in-app purchases. Nothing is sent to AI without your permission.

BRING YOUR PAST, KEEP YOUR DATA
• Import your Google Maps Timeline export (location-history.json) to reveal places you went before you installed FogMap
• Export your complete record as a backup file at any time. Your data is always yours.

SHARE YOUR WORLD
Create a share card with your map and stats.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
No sign-up. Your location history stays on your device and in your own iCloud; we never upload it to our servers. Only when you use the AI guide, and only after you agree, is the place you're viewing sent to FogMap's server, where Gemini writes the answer.

Our planet is beautiful and life is short. Let's lift as much of the fog as we can before the journey ends.

Note: background recording requires "Always" location access.
