About HippoReach
File a Wallow Log on a hippo-only signal taxonomy and a pod roster tied to a river-reach card—depth, mud, flood season, not a map pin. Tag wheeze-honk, territorial bellow, yawning gape, or dung shower, then count bull, cows, calves, and satellite males on that bank.
• Compare species: open common-hippo and pygmy-hippo cards side by side for mass, skin, tusks, night habit, and graze.
• Pick a reach: filter bank cards by flood season, then read current, night graze, and bank-watch notes for that stretch.
• Tag a signal: mark vocal or postural cues (ear-flick, jaw-clash, bank-haul) and attach them to a dated note.
• File a wallow: write an on-device journal entry against species, reach, and signals; star, sort newest or oldest, and edit later.
• Compose a roster: count territorial bull, cows, calves, and satellite males on one reach and save the file locally.
Species, reach, and signal catalogs load from bundled JSON. Journal notes and pod rosters stay on this device as Application Support files. There is no account, no map track, and no network sync.
• Open conservation Sources from the species toolbar for public museum and Red List pages.
• Look up river jargon on Glossary cards (wallow, crèche, satellite male) without leaving the atlas.
A single-taxon ledger for zoo, classroom, or bank-side study—not a multi-species encyclopedia.
