• New climbers meet Bunbuku: in a short lesson of five rooms he talks you through the jump and double jump, attack and PARRY, the DASH, the WALL JUMP and the shrine's cards, then sends you on your first climb. SKIP is always there.
• No more dead ends: a fork in the tower is drawn only when both of its ways lead on.
• The game no longer hangs after an ad that does not close.
• HOW TO PLAY: every button and four new topics (PATHS, FUSED PATHS, CAVES, THE DARK TIDE), from the (i) on the main menu and from the pause.
• HEARTBEAT: on your last heart, the phone beats with it (OPTIONS > GAMEPLAY).
• Caves open the way you came in, and a path's card waits until you have read it.
• SHORT CLIMB: beating its last guardian is the summit.
• OBON LIGHTS, season 2 (from 26 October): lanterns in the tower, the SOUL BRIDGE TRAIL and the OBON SCARF on the season road.

• A new menu with the Daily Board: everyone climbs the same tower each day. See today's best climbers and your own place, and finish in the top 1%, the top 10% or the top half of yesterday's board to earn Sumi or jade the next day.
• Made for iPad: the climb, the menus and the touch buttons fill the big screen.
• Coming back pays: a welcome-back gift, streak rewards (and a way to mend a broken streak), and a first week of named steps for new climbers.
• New looks: ten patterned trails and scarves, two new sets and the Ronin's Bundle. Your first Sumi purchase comes with a bonus: as much again, up to +650 Sumi.
• Pick your language on first launch: the whole game speaks 10 languages.
• Redrawn enemies, a new app icon, new jade, Sumi and candles, and every screen drawn by one hand.
• Ads that respect your climb: no break after a record or your first death, and more optional rewards.

1.5.1 · GAME CENTER
• Game Center is here: three leaderboards — Highest Floor, Short Climb: Best Time and Guardian Road: Best Time — and 28 achievements worth 815 points. You'll find them in Apple's Games app too.
• A quiet sign-in: nothing pops up before your first climb ends. Tap RANKS on the menu (or OPTIONS > GAME CENTER) to sign in and open the boards.
• The first time you sign in, your best floor, your best times and the achievements you already earned are sent, so you start on the boards.
• Crisper pixel art: the world is drawn on whole pixels on every iPhone (no more doubled or missing rows), guardians and enemies no longer stretch, squash or tilt, and sprites whose blades, sickles and robes were cut off at the edges are whole again.
• KUBI-KIRI, KIYOMORI and the BLACK RONIN were cleaned up where their pixels had broken, and the spear samurai now flinches with his spear in hand.
• A won duel counts toward its achievements at once.
• Italian now loads on every iPhone (some players got the game in Turkish).
