Kulfi: Games for Couples

You talk to them every day. And still, by 10pm, you're both just trading reels and typing "kya kar rahe ho" for the ninth time. You're not fighting. You're not bored of each other. You're just out of things to do.

Nobody warns you about this part of loving someone in India. A lot of us don't share a city, forget a room. The whole relationship lives inside a phone. Two grey ticks, a few voice notes, one call before bed. So much love stuck inside a very small screen.

Three of us built Kulfi, and we were all in the same spot. Long-term partners we love, who make our day. But once the day's been talked through, it all starts to repeat. What we missed wasn't the conversation, it was their presence. We didn't want to sit alone at night scrolling Instagram. We wanted to be in the same room as them, even when we couldn't. Half our video calls were just silence, nothing left to say. And it wasn't only us. Almost everyone we knew was in the same quiet.

Here's the only promise we care about: no couple on Kulfi should have a boring conversation again. We take that dead late-night chat and turn it into banter, teasing, a bit of fighting, and a lot of "wait, that's not fair."

Kulfi doesn't work like anything you've played. The games run across two phones, yours and theirs, at once. Some split the controls between you, so it's one game, one boat, each holding one half. Mess up your side and you both go down together.

Here's the part we love most. It's made for when you're already on a call. Put Kulfi on while you're on a video or audio call at night, and play straight through it. You're on the call anyway. This is what you do during it.

One house rule. No singles allowed. You invite your partner, send them a code, they punch it in, and you're paired. Till then, the games stay locked. Sounds a bit harsh, but that's the point. Kulfi is a two-person club, and if you're inside it, you've already got the one thing it asks for.
