About Lamma: Family Question Cards
Lamma (لمّة) is the everyday Arabic word for the family get-together: the evening when everyone ends up in the same room. Lamma is a card game made for that evening. There are no rules to learn and no scores to keep. Pick a deck, read a question out loud, and let the room take it from there.
The questions are written so a seven-year-old and a grandmother can both answer them, and many are the ones families never think to ask: what song your mother sang to you, what the old house was like, how your grandparents met.
TWO WAYS TO PLAY
• Table Talk: one card at a time, read out loud, and anyone can answer. Tap for the next card, swipe up to skip one.
• Your Turn: pass the phone around. Add first names and Lamma hands the phone to each person by name, five questions each.
SIX DECKS, 332 QUESTIONS
• Icebreakers: quick, easy questions to open the evening.
• This or That: pick-a-side votes for the whole room.
• Funny & Silly: silly what-ifs and who's-most-likely votes.
• Memory Lane: childhood homes, old neighbourhoods and family stories.
• Deep & Meaningful: for the quieter part of the evening.
• Heritage & Elders: how they met, the old house, the recipes and proverbs.
Every deck is included in full. There is nothing to buy.
ARABIC AND ENGLISH
Every card is written in both languages. The whole app runs in Arabic, fully right to left with Eastern Arabic numerals if you like, or in English. Any card flips to the other language with one tap, so a grandparent can read it in Arabic while the grandchildren follow in English.
MADE FOR MIXED AGES
• Kids are playing: holds back the cards that need grown-up memories, so a child's turn never lands on a question they can't answer.
• Choose the depth: icebreaker, medium and deep questions, picked for each gathering.
• No repeats: Lamma remembers the questions your family has seen, so the next gathering starts fresh.
• Continue last gathering: an interrupted round picks up on the same card.
• Save the questions you love and share them as a picture or as text.
• A text-size setting for reading across the room.
