About Met2Pilot
All the weather of the flight, on one map. Built by an airline pilot, for pilots.
Situational awareness only — NOT FOR NAVIGATION, not a weather briefing.
Met2Pilot is a weather EFB for the iPad and iPhone: the European radar composite, convective cells, cloud tops, decoded METAR and TAF, NOTAM, upper winds and a vertical cross-section along your track — in one place, in flight.
YOUR NETWORK, NOT A GENERIC MAP
• Today: Europe, for Air France and easyJet pilots — more than 300 airfields, each with its own badge.
• Coming soon: worldwide and long-haul.
• Flying another network? Email [email protected] and we will add it.
WHAT YOU SEE
• Precipitation: the EUMETNET OPERA radar composite where radars look, satellite estimates where they do not — with the coverage limit drawn on the map.
• Convection: EUMETSAT RGB imagery, cloud tops and RDT convective cells (phase, movement, age, top).
• An onboard-style radar view in the four ARINC 708 colours, rebuilt from those sources. It is not a radar: no tilt, no beam, no shadow.
• Worldwide SIGMETs — thunderstorm, turbulence, icing, mountain wave, cyclone — and volcanic ash with base and top.
• Airfield badges: ring colour from the METAR, wind, runway in use (observed on ADS-B, or inferred from the wind — and the badge says which), snow and runway state from SNOWTAM, observed go-arounds, NOTAM constraints.
• Airfield card: decoded METAR and TAF, ATIS, runway diagram, head and crosswind components, hourly forecast.
• Upper winds from the surface to FL500, a vertical cross-section along your route and another along your current track.
• Diversion beam to the quickest airfield to reach, wind included, with the mean descent gradient to get there.
LIVE TURB — TURBULENCE MEASURED BY THE FLEET
Your iPad's accelerometers measure the turbulence you fly through; the fleet's measurements are pooled on a shared map, by 10 NM hexagons and 1,000 ft slices, for two hours. No identifier is attached to a cell.
MADE FOR THE COCKPIT
Day and night themes, a high-contrast cockpit mode, screen kept awake in flight, an offline basemap for a whole region, GPS, ADS-B or manual position with dead reckoning when GPS is lost.
WE ALSO TELL YOU WHAT THE MAP DOES NOT SEE
Every layer has a legend that states its source and its limits. Radar mosaics arrive 7 to 12 minutes late and the bridge is a forecast, announced as one. ADS-B traffic is a preview and is not a TCAS. No trackers, no advertising.
NOT CERTIFIED
Met2Pilot is a situational awareness aid. It is not a primary source: data is supplied by third parties and may be delayed, incomplete or incorrect. It replaces neither the official weather briefing nor onboard equipment. Flight preparation and conduct remain the sole responsibility of the pilot in command.
SUBSCRIPTION
Met2Pilot requires a yearly subscription, with a one-month free trial for new subscribers. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless cancel
