Nitnoi: Hear Thai, Read Yours

nitnoi is the messenger for talking to someone in another language, from the first hello to years in. A new match, a number from last night, a first date, or the love of your life: same app.

You write in your language and they read in theirs, in the same thread, side by side, nothing to switch or paste. Thai on one side, your language on the other, understood in both directions.

WHY ANOTHER TRANSLATOR

Because a translator that is confident when it should not be is worse than no translator at all. Thai carries meaning in particles, in pronouns, in what is left out. A machine that flattens all of that into something fluent is not helping. It is guessing quietly.

nitnoi does the opposite. When a message is genuinely ambiguous, it says so, shows the readings it is choosing between, and offers to ask. "Are you angry?" and "are you sulking, affectionately?" are different messages, and the difference is worth one tap.

WHAT YOU GET

· Translation in both directions, in the same thread, always visible.
· Possible readings when something is ambiguous, with the reason, not just an alternative.
· Ask to confirm: send a gentle clarifying question instead of assuming.
· At the table: lay one phone between you at dinner and nitnoi speaks each of you to the other, out loud. Or both phones, with earbuds. It needs translation switched on by both of you.
· A shared lexicon in every conversation. The nicknames, the in-jokes, the word one of you always uses wrong on purpose. Taught once, remembered for both of you.
· Voice notes, transcribed and translated.
· Calls, with optional live translated captions. Captions are off by default and need both of you to say yes.
· The Decoder: paste in a message from any app and read what it actually carries: the particle, the pronoun, the thing left out.

HOW IT IS PRIVATE

You bring the person. nitnoi brings the language. There is no search, no directory, no suggestions, no way for anyone to find you. A conversation starts because someone sent you a link or a code, and that is the only way it can start.

Every conversation is its own sealed room, with its own lexicon and its own settings. Nothing crosses between them.

Translating a message means sending it to our servers, and voice notes and live captions send audio the same way, for as long as it takes to transcribe and translate. Live captions are the only one of the three you have to switch on: they stay off until both of you agree, and the app says so on screen the whole time they are running.

WHAT IT COSTS

nitnoi is free, and free is not a trial. Everyday conversation is covered: a daily translation allowance that resets each morning, and a grace period for your first two weeks where nothing counts at all. Sending is never limited. Only translating is counted, so a conversation never stops.
