About Overtake: Formula Racing Team
Overtake is a shouting game for a room full of phones. Each player gets a panel of toggles, dials, selectors, sliders and buttons. Everyone has a command they cannot carry out themselves:
"DIFF ENTRY TO FOUR!"
"ENABLE DRS!"
"SWITCH TO PLAN C!"
"FRONT WING TO PLUS TWO!"
"BOX NOW!"
The control your call names is on somebody else's panel. So you shout it across the table. Whoever has that switch throws it, your call clears, a fresh one lands.
HOW A RUN ENDS
Every call has its own countdown. When you miss three calls and the car is retired.
IT NEVER GETS EASIER
Clear a stint and the whole table gets the win, for now. Then come more buttons, bigger panels, and harder commands. Then there are problems, so many problems:
• RADIO STATIC — interference smears the words on your call
• VISOR TEAR-OFF — half your own panel goes dark, so now you have to ask
• PIT LANE OPEN — one call appears on every screen, but only one panel can answer it
• DRIVER CHANGE — two players swap panels mid-run
WHAT YOU NEED
• 2 to 4 players, one phone each, in the same room
• An internet connection on every phone
• Your actual voice, there is no chat
• No account, no sign-up, no email. The host has a room code and everyone joins
