Latest updates
2.8
A typo can't cost you data
A mistyped amount could delete a category's budget, sell a whole holding, or save a shared household amount a thousand times too small. Those screens now wait until the amount can be read, and editing a transaction has a Cancel button.
Transactions keep their account across devices
With PennyFi on more than one device, a transaction could lose its account when the other device saved into that same account, and a repair could be undone the same way. PennyFi now keeps the link. If Settings → Backup & Export → Repair Orphaned Transactions lists any, assign them once more and they'll stay.
Glass widgets
Edit a widget and set its Background to Glass for a frosted card instead of a solid one.
Worth versus what you put in
Choose vs Invested on the performance chart to see your portfolio's value against the money you put in, with the gap shaded. An All range covers your whole history, and crypto no longer drops out of charts longer than a year.
Ask PennyFi follows the conversation
Answers appear as they're written, a follow-up like "what about last month?" knows what you asked before, and it can now see last month, the year so far and this month's budget.
Scan Receipt, beside the amount
The button now sits next to the amount it fills in and scans a photo as soon as you pick it. Canceling the camera no longer removes a photo you had already attached.
Adding a transaction, smoothed out
It starts on the account you used last, keeps the payee you type, tells you when a rule will pick the category, and the confirmation has Undo.
Balance Adjustment takes the real balance
Enter what the account actually holds and PennyFi records the difference. Before, the number you entered was recorded as the change itself.
Statement imports stop dropping amounts
An amount alone on its line in a PDF statement was silently skipped, so its transaction could go missing. Those amounts now come through.
App Lock covers everything
A sheet left open when PennyFi went to the background stayed visible over the lock, and on Mac, Settings could be opened while locked. The lock now covers both.
Ready for iPhone Duo
Toolbars fit iPhone Duo's vertical bar and keep the buttons you use most in view.
A taller Net Worth widget
The extra-large Net Worth widget gains a portrait layout, and VoiceOver now reads all six of its figures instead of three.
Readable buttons in dark themes
Labels on the app's cyan buttons were hard to read in dark themes. They now switch to black there for clear contrast.
2.7
Bills now ask before they post
PennyFi used to enter recurring bills on its own, without a word. Now anything due can be listed for you to approve, edit, or skip first — and you can change the amount before it's recorded, which matters for loan payments that move month to month. Set it per bill, or leave the ones with known amounts posting on their own. Settings › Recurring Bills.
Nothing due quietly disappears
A loan payment you missed used to vanish from every screen the day after it was due. Missed bills, planned one-offs, and loan payments now stay visible, and Upcoming has a new Missed list that answers "what didn't I get to?" — including up to a year of unpaid loan and card minimums.
Built for iOS 27 and macOS 27
Toasts, progress indicators, and the iCloud banner pick up the system's Liquid Glass materials.
Layouts follow the window, not the device
Resize PennyFi on iPad and the content re-lays as you go. Reflect's summary figures no longer run into each other in a narrow window, and Money Flow comes back when you widen it again. Money Flow's labels no longer clip mid-word or sit on top of each other.
Payers, where you needed them
Editing a transaction can now create a payee without leaving the sheet, and income asks for a payer instead. Logging an upcoming item shows the payer it will use and lets you change it — planned items used to be saved without one.
The right currency on every amount
A euro bill was labelled with your app currency in the recurring list, its editor, and the split editor. Every figure now shows the currency of the account it belongs to.
Mac, finished properly
Every add button behind Settings — Categories, Payees, Tags, Rules, Recurring, Split & Settle — now opens what it should, and going back returns you to the pane you came from. Sheets carry the app's own colors instead of a gray system strip, and their buttons sit on a solid bar rather than printing over the row underneath. Search fits the window.
Also in this release
• Cost Basis, Total P&L, and Today share one size, so the portfolio row reads level
• When a cash-flow projection is already negative, the zero line no longer draws across the card header
• Bill reminders now tell you when notifications are switched off, instead of failing silently
• Menu icons stay where they identify an account or category, rather than an action
PennyFi 2.7 requires iOS 27 or macOS 27. On Mac it is now Apple silicon only — a smaller download with nothing in it your Mac can't run.
