About PilotDeck
PilotDeck puts real aeronautical weather in your pocket — decoded METAR and TAF, minute-by-minute rain where you are, live NOTAMs, aviation news and a full route briefing for any ICAO airport in the world. Built by a pilot, for pilots, in a clean flight-deck (FMS) style.
WEATHER — FREE, FOREVER
• Live METAR and TAF, decoded into plain language
• Hour-by-hour forecast: temperature, wind, gusts, precipitation, pressure
• 7-day outlook with wind, UV and precipitation charts
• Add unlimited airports to your watchlist
• Runway wind component and crosswind advisories
• Everything cached for offline reading in the cockpit
WEATHER WHERE YOU ARE — NEW IN 2.0
Not just airports — the weather at your exact position. A minute-by-minute nowcast tells you when rain starts and stops, a live ticker keeps wind, thunderstorm risk, fog and heat in view, and a 12-hour outlook shows the trend.
AVIATION NEWS — NEW IN 2.0
Twelve trusted sources in one feed, refreshed around the clock. Incidents and regulation changes are categorised and can alert you the moment they land. Bookmark anything to read offline, or keep the news widget on your Home Screen.
SMART PUSH ALERTS — THE FEATURE PILOTDECK WAS BUILT ON
Follow any airport and PilotDeck watches it for you. The moment a new METAR or TAF is issued — a wind shift, a drop to IFR — an instant push reaches you, even with the app closed.
ROUTE BRIEFING — YOUR WHOLE FLIGHT ON ONE SCREEN
Stop gathering the picture from five places. One tap builds a complete departure–destination–alternate brief:
• Hazards flagged first (density altitude, hot day, low visibility)
• Live NOTAMs, sorted so the critical ones are on top
• Distances, times and decoded weather for every field
• A TAF timeline that shows the trend — VFR now, IFR in two hours
• A plain-English verdict: GOOD TO GO / CAUTION / NOT RECOMMENDED
See every country you overfly, re-route around any airspace in a few taps with the extra distance shown instantly, and watch the leg on a 3D globe.
HOME SCREEN WIDGETS
Live airport weather with a colour-coded wind compass, your Daily Check streak and the latest aviation news — without opening the app.
DAILY CHECK — A PRE-FLIGHT FOR YOUR BRAIN
Every pilot checks the weather. PilotDeck also checks you. A two-minute cognitive pre-flight measures reaction, memory and decision-making, then gives you a FIT index for today. Includes an IMSAFE self-check and a 30-day trend history.
PILOT GUIDE — NEW IN 2.0
An illustrated, interactive guide to every part of the app — short visual lessons instead of a manual. Like all in-app reference, it is provided in the six ICAO languages: English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.
TRAINING AND TOOLS
• Holding Entry — direct, parallel and teardrop entries, Trainer and Time Attack
• Scan & Catch — METAR scanning speed drill
• Crosswind Crunch — crosswind practice with a scientific debrief
• Needle Chase — ILS/LOC tracking under changing weather
• Aviation quizzes with detailed explanatio

Latest updates
4.3
PilotDeck 4.3 — your documents on every airport and flight, your marks on NOTAMs. Free, like everything else.
DOCS — ATTACH ANYTHING
• Every airport and every flight now carries its own documents: photos from the gallery, a shot from the camera, PDFs and files from the Files app
• SCAN — the document camera finds the edges, straightens the page and turns several pages into one PDF: the OFP, a crew list, a handling invoice
• Open, share and delete from one list; the card shows "DOCS 3 · 4.2 MB" so you see what is there before you tap
• Documents of a flight sit in its briefing under NOTES, next to the flight note
NOTAM — YOUR OWN MARKS
• MARK any NOTAM with a star: it goes to the top of the list, the MARKED chip filters to your marks only, the briefing counts them on the NOTAM row
• Write your own note on a NOTAM — "closed stand, use C5" — and a NOTE tag on the row tells you it is there
• Marks are kept per aerodrome and clear themselves when the NOTAM is withdrawn
FORECAST
• The forecast reference rewritten for the current screen: what each card and curve means, the AVN key opens the aviation block first
• Rain by the hour as one strip — hour, icon, probability, millimetres, wet hours highlighted — and the same twelve hours on the probability curve
• AVIATION · NEXT 24H: QNH by the hour, amber when it is falling fast
STATION CARD
• A TAF that lapses in the next three hours, or has lapsed, says so on the name line: "TAF 2h", "TAF EXP"
• Vertical visibility with its unit: "VV 200 ft"
ROUTES AND BRIEFING
• The briefing scrolls smoothly on long routes — the calculations are done once, not on every frame
• TXT S / M / L / XL — the font step is written on the key
• Changing DEP or DEST on a flight with a built route: CLEAR ROUTE / KEEP / UNDO instead of a silent loss
• Route builder: the globe from afar, a flat map below 2 000 km
THE LOOK
• Every screen header is now one instrument plate — BACK, the title, TXT and REF as zones of one housing, the way an FMS draws its soft keys
• Both shortcut keys on the main screen take any tool or any game from one list; long-press to assign
• The clock reads "06:23Z • 09:23"
Weather, NOTAMs, routes, tracks, notes and documents stay free — no account, no subscription needed for any of this.
The NOTAM marks and notes are the idea of Capt Adil Baria, Global 6000 — he asked for a way to keep his own reading of a NOTAM next to the NOTAM itself. Thank you. The feedback form in the app reaches the developer directly.
4.2
PilotDeck 4.2 — the North Atlantic tracks, live. Free, like everything else.
NAT ORGANISED TRACKS (OTS)
• Today's tracks on the route map: letters, direction (A ◀W, U E▶), one chevron along each, white in force and dimmed before their period — from the FAA NMS feed, refreshed every ten minutes
• The message for YOUR direction comes first; when it is not out yet the map says so — "E▶ not out yet · Gander ~1400Z" — instead of showing the other way's tracks as if they were yours
• A status line over the keys: "E▶ TMI 280 STARTS IN 2h 15m · 0100–0800Z · ENTRY 0539Z TMI 280" — counting down by the minute
• NAT key in the left column: both directions, yesterday's message (PREV, orientation only), the areas on your route with entry and exit times, the checklists
• Tap a track letter: the route as filed, levels, NAR, length, and whether your plan follows it. Tap an area title: entry and exit, the OTS of both directions, the pilot notes
• Random routes are told honestly: "RANDOM ROUTE — OTS LIES N · NEAREST TRACK Z 410 NM" — a Bogotá–Porto flight runs 500 NM south of every track, and that is normal
• TMI with its letter (279A) when a message is re-issued
OCEANIC AREA NOTES — FROM THE SERVER, NOT A RELEASE
• For each OCA: whether it still issues an oceanic clearance (Shanwick) or has moved to OCR, where "RCL RECEIVED" is not a clearance (Gander, Reykjavik, Santa Maria, New York, Bodø since 4 Dec 2024)
• Clearance-delivery and HF frequencies, data-link logon and timing, SELCAL, reporting, SLOP, communication failure — with the AIP sections and AIRAC dates
• Lines not confirmed from an official source are marked UNVERIFIED in amber. Notes are refreshed on the server with each AIRAC cycle; the AIP and the OTS message remain the authority
TWO CHECKLISTS WITH TICK BOXES
• FLIGHT — the approvals of the aircraft and the flight, once per route
• ENTRY — the actions before each area, worded the way that area requires
• Ticks are kept on the phone per route and area; RESET for the next flight. The NAT card sums them up: FLIGHT 4/4 · KZWY 2/4 · LPPO 0/4
THE BRIEFING
• The NAT HLA card shows the OTS in force at your oceanic entry, the verdict on your plan and, when your direction is not published, yesterday's message for orientation
MAP — STABILITY AND READING
• Fixed: the route map ran out of memory on long oceanic routes and on return from the background. Zones now draw only when you are close enough to see them; the globe stays on the overview, the map goes flat below 2 000 km
• Fixed: the country column could miss the destination country
• Cards and LAYERS rows in higher contrast; cards scroll, MORE opens them full screen with the font-size key
• The offline map now draws the oceanic areas and today's tracks, renders one zoom level deeper along the track, and shows "NO PACK TILE" where the pack ends
• First run: satellite style, a clean map; the intro plays once, then a plate tells you where it lives
• MAP REF: contents with jump links, a NAT · OCEANIC section, a TOP key
Weather, NOTAMs, routes, the tracks and the notes stay free — no account, no subscription needed for any of this.
Much of this release follows the letters of Capt Adil Baria, Global 6000 — the route by keyboard, the alternates, the oceanic page all started as his questions. Thank you. The feedback form in the app reaches the developer directly.
4.0
PilotDeck 4.0 — the map flies with you.
FLY IT — the route map becomes a navigation display
• GPS mode: own-ship, N UP / TRK UP, DTG · ETE · ETA · NEXT, track vector, range rings
• NRST — nearest airports from your position, direct-to line, FIX on any point
• Local flights open at the departure airport, 8 NM across; long routes open with the whole route
• PTS: all plan points on the line, named ones only, or none
OFFLINE MAP
• PACK stores map tiles along the route on the device; in the air without network the map keeps drawing — plan, alternates, countries, SIGMET, own-ship
TRACK RECORDING
• REC writes your flight to the device: position, speed, altitude, fix quality, every second
• TRACKS — replay, merge, trim, name, export GPX / CSV; nothing leaves the phone unless you share it
• GNSS spoofing and jamming detector; auto-stop that does not fall for a frozen fake position
ROUTE BY KEYBOARD
• FPLN — type or paste your route: airports, VORs, NDBs, radials, coordinates in every common form; OFP text is understood
• NAVLOG table, plan versions, UNDO / REDO, points without coordinates kept as PENDING
FIX DATABASE — five-letter points get their coordinates
• FAA CIFP on board: every enroute and terminal waypoint of the USA, Alaska, Hawaii and the Pacific, 28-day cycle
• A worldwide layer of older fixes, marked so you check them
• One name in several places? The list turns amber and offers the choice with coordinates, region and bearing — as an FMS does
• Points you enter with coordinates go to a shared database; confirmed by three pilots, they become VERIFIED for everyone. Reference data, not for navigation
MY POINTS · MY ZONES — for light aviation
• Your own airfields, navaids and landmarks on the map and in FLIGHT INIT
• Airspace zones entered the way the AIP prints them; names along the boundary, limits in the same line
• ZONES page: which zones the plan crosses, CHECK against NOTAM; WATCH marks a zone to keep out of — AHEAD / INSIDE warning five minutes before the track vector reaches it
• Zones are your own data, not an official source — read the limits yourself
STATION SCREEN
• New header: local time at the airport, elevation, longest runway — tap it for the coordinates
• AIR BASE, HELIPORT, CLOSED, no scheduled service, soft runway — marked in amber; high-elevation airfields flagged from 5,000 ft
• METAR: minimum visibility shown on its own line; the flight category follows the prevailing visibility, as the FAA defines it
FLIGHT INIT · BRIEFING
• FLIGHT INIT redesigned in FMS order: flight ribbon, ROUTE, TIMING, alternates, minima; DEP / ARR clock, ETD in local or UTC
• Route cards show ETD · flight time · ETA, and NO TAF when there is no forecast
• ALTN in the route builder: airports on a muted map filtered by runway length, with weather at your arrival time
• Briefing verdict counted for the arrival window and your own minima
• SIGMET names along the boundary, readable card with the whole message
PERFORMANCE
• The route map opens faster and runs cooler in GPS mode: fewer redraws, background work trimmed
• Fixed a hang when leaving the map; the weather refresh is lighter when you come back to the app
• Cards fit smaller iPhones
Much of this release came from pilots flying with PilotDeck — special thanks to Capt Adil Baria. The feedback form in the app reaches the developer directly.
