One hundred nations, each with its own flag and anthem, and a world ranking that remembers every result you get.

You attack, the computer defends. Your five players run up the pitch across five lanes. To avoid defenders, pass to the lane above or below you, then dive over the line for the try. The other side's possessions are simulated, so a full match takes about five minutes.

Simple to pick up, with a lot underneath if you want it: 100 nations, a world ranking your results actually move, a 20-club career, and a tournament calendar that never ends.

FOUR WAYS TO PLAY

Quick Match:

Two nations, one short match. Play it as a ranked Test that permanently moves the world rankings, or as a friendly that changes nothing. Hold the button instead of tapping and you get a surprise fixture, always away from home.

Tournaments:

Eleven competitions on one carousel: the Global Cup, the North and South Nations, and eight more cups. Fields are read from your own world rankings rather than written down, so a nation you train up can qualify for a cup it could not reach before. The Global Cup takes the best of each region and five wildcards on top, so the 24 move with your results without a continent ever dropping out.

Career:

Twenty clubs across two divisions. It saves after every match, so a season spreads happily across as many short sittings as you like. Before a season starts you can pick how bonus points are scored: the standard way, or the French system, where the attacking bonus is three more tries than the other side rather than four in total.

Endless Runner:

One sprint, three hearts, and a ladder that throws a tougher nation at you every 100 metres until the world number one is all that is left. Distance is your score, with a top-100 board kept on your device.
