PrayerFast: Christian Fasting

Keep the fast with food that keeps it. PrayerFast plans your meals around your Church's fasting rule and shows you what each day asks, Catholic or Orthodox. The sayings of the saints and a few lines of reflection each day keep the heart in the fast, not only the kitchen.

THE FASTING KITCHEN
A week of meals planned for each day's own rule. A strict day gets a dish without oil or wine, a fish day leads with fish, an oil and wine day with dishes cooked in oil, and when the fast lifts, meat and fish are back on the table. Swap any dish for another that keeps the day, browse your tradition's recipes with photos, save favorites and build one shopping list for the whole week. Today's dishes and one full recipe a day are free.

TODAY, AT A GLANCE
Open PrayerFast and see the day's name, its fasting rule and the foods allowed and set aside, in colors that follow the Church year. Tomorrow is always in view, with dishes to cook ahead when a fast begins.

THE SAYINGS OF THE SAINTS
Words from the saints of your tradition for each day of the fast, chosen for the season, with the day's Scripture.

REFLECT ON THE FAST
Write a few lines each day, note how your heart is and whether you kept the fast. Watch your streak grow, and look back on your week every Sunday.

YOUR TRADITION'S OWN CALENDAR
Eleven traditions, each with its own rules: Roman Catholic, Byzantine Catholic, Maronite, Chaldean, Armenian Catholic, Eastern Orthodox (New or Old Calendar), Coptic, Ethiopian, Armenian Apostolic, Syriac and the Assyrian Church of the East. Lent and Great Lent, Advent and the Nativity Fast, the Apostles' and Dormition Fasts, Wednesdays and Fridays: all worked out for your church.

EVERY DAY, A TAP AWAY
Tap any day to see its feast and its fasting rule and, where your calendar has them, its saints and readings.

SHARE THE FAST
A card for each day of a fast, like Day 8 of 40, in the season's color with the day's rule and verse, made for stories and family chats.

GENTLE REMINDERS
A morning note with today's rule and an evening invitation to reflect, quiet on the days the Church is quiet.
