About PressureGauge6
PressureGauge6 is built for Outdoor Enthusiasts & Adventurers of All Kinds
Harnessing Data provided by the User's Device [onboard Pressure Sensor (Barometer) & GPS Satellite Antennae], PressureGauge6 Estimates Altitudes & can Record Precise GPS Positions -> even with No Cell Signal.
Easily Create Detailed Maps of Off-Road, Off-the-Grid, Out-of-Range Outdoor Excursions.
Users can quickly check Atmospheric Pressure to track Changes in the Weather. Reporting on Falling Air Pressures from the Field isn't just for TV Weather Forecasters anymore!
Users can even use PressureGauge6's "Estimated Altitude" to detect changes in Ambient Air Pressure -> when Atmospheric Pressure changes, "Estimated Altitude" changes too.
From a Fixed Position: if the "Estimated Altitude" goes Up - the Atmospheric Pressure is DECREASING.
If the "Estimated Altitude" goes Down, the Atmospheric Pressure is INCREASING.
**Sunny Warm Weather is associated with "HIGH Pressure", whereas Cold Cloudy Conditions & Storms are associated with "LOW Pressure"
Sea-Level -> Low Altitude: 0 feet -> HIGH Atmospheric (Air) Pressure -> 760 Torr or 14.7 psi
Mount Everest -> High Altitude: 29,032 feet -> LOW Atmospheric (Air) Pressure -> 235 Torr or 4.5 psi
PressureGauge6 uses Atmospheric Pressure Measurements to Accurately Estimate Altitude, but Weather Systems cause Shifts in Air Pressure which Limits the Precision of these Estimates.
**"Estimated Altitude" will Shift by as much as +-150 feet (45 meters) due to the Weather over the course of a Year. Pressure Changes Slowly...so Compare Samples taken over Short Time Spans (and Sample a Known Altitude whenever possible). Then Offset PressureGauge6 Values.
[In Extreme Weather Regions such as Minnesota or Siberia, this Annual Fluctuation in Barometric Air Pressure may cause Shifts in "Estimated Altitude" of ~700 feet due to Storm Activity.....and up to ~4100 feet during World Record Breaking Hurricanes & Typhoons]
The Best Known Method for producing High Quality & Accurate "Estimated Altitude" measurements using PressureGauge6: 1) SAVE Barometric Pressure Data Points on Typical Sunny Days in Good Weather....avoid High Pressure Heat Waves / Domes. 2) Sample Known Reference Altitudes 3) Subtract 2 Altitudes to Calculate Height. 4. Sample a Reference Location on Same Day
PressureGauge6 enables Hikers / Bikers / Endurance Athletes & Mountain Climbers assess Elevation Gains & Distances Covered over Any Trail or Terrain Anywhere.
PressureGauge6 is great for Hunters / Equestrians / Motocrossers / 4x4 Off Roaders / Anglers / Campers / & Outdoorsmen produce High Quality Maps of Trails / Fishing Holes / Camp Sites & anything else worth putting on a Map -> even recording Locations where Cellphone Signals are unavailable.
Storm Chasers / Weather Watchers / & Fishermen can use the PressureGauge6 Barometer to Monitor Atmospheric Conditions when in Remote Environments.

1.2
-Added Multi-Dataset GRAPH Selection Feature!
**Choose from 6 GRAPHS including: 1) hPa [hectoPascals], 2) meters [est. altitude], 3) Feet [est. altitude], 4) hPa vs Time, 5) Trip [m], & 6) Trip [feet]
*** (a. Trip is Estimated Altitude vs Distance Traveled, b. Red Line shows the Y-Axis Average, c. Brown Line shows Y-Intercept [Y = ZERO] )
- Use "SET RANGE" Button to Adjust Y-Axis -> to ZOOM-IN & ZOOM-OUT of the GRAPH
- Use "Clear" Button found in LOCATIONS Notepad to DELETE Old GRAPH DATA & GPS Locations -> to Begin a FRESH Graph Data Capture
-> To CREATE a NEW Graph: 1) Use the SAVE Button to Create Data Points.... (note: 2 Data Points are necessary to Launch GRAPH), 2) Press GRAPH Button, 3) GRAPH Appears....scroll down to Choose a Different GRAPH
- Updated MENU Buttons & Relocated NOTES Button User Notepad -> for Recording Altitude CALIBRATION Information ......or Anything Else the User Desires
- Optimized GPS Location & Barometric Pressure Update Procedure to Increase Battery Life & User Experience by Pausing when App is Open in the Background
-> Best Practices for improving Estimated Altitude Accuracy: 1) Calibrate PressureGauge6 to Known Altitudes prior to Use (in USA, the National Map provides online Elevation Data for specific GPS Coordinates queries.....utilizing GPS locations of flat ground w/ clear view to satellite provides best elevation estimates), 2) Take Measurement Samples quickly following Calibration (within an hour is best when possible), 3) Recalibrate whenever possible to account for changing weather or increased sampling duration. [pressure changes hourly....and pressure can swing up or down on a daily basis.....altitude is estimated using very small pressure differences]

-Updated Altitude Calibration Menu -> "SET ALTITUDE" Feature added
**now there are 4 Ways to Adjust "Estimated Altitude" Calibration:
Method ONE -> Enter the CURRENT ALTITUDE + Press "SET ALTITUDE"
Method TWO -> Enter the Desired Altitude Zero OFFSET + Press "SAVE OFFSET"
Method THREE -> Press "ZERO" + Press "SET ALTITUDE"......[this sets Estimated Altitude to ZERO]
Method FOUR -> Press "ZERO" + Press "SAVE OFFSET"......[this sets Calibration Offset to ZERO]
++ the WEATHER is Always Changing.....Barometric Pressure Goes Up & Down Twice a Day -> Calibrate PressureGauge6 Daily (before a Trip) to Obtain the Most Precise "Estimated Altitude" Data
-> the Diurnal Cycle is Driven by Solar Activity -> resulting in Atmospheric "Tides" Twice Daily
** HIGH Pressure is expected to Peak -> 10am & 10pm
*** LOW Pressure generally Peaks -> 4am & 4pm
++ these Diurnal Pressure Swings can shift "Estimated Altitude" values by +-42 Feet / 12.8 meters or more
** 1 hPa (mbar) -> shifts "Estimated Altitude" by ~28 feet / 8.5 meters
*** 1 mmHg (Torr) -> shifts "Estimated Altitude" by ~37 feet / 11.3 meters
>>> to Obtain the BEST RESULTS using PressureGauge6 (for "Estimated Altitude"):
1) Calibrate PressureGauge6 ONCE before an Excursion.....set Altitude.....(or set Altitude to ZERO to measure Elevation Gains on a Hike)
2) Select Convenient Calibration & Sampling Locations when Possible -> Front Door / Parking Spot / Favorite Gas Station / etc
3) SAVE Data Samples in Tight Timelines (within several hours -> within 60 minutes is best)
4) SAVE Data Samples in Close Geographical Proximity (within several miles is best)
5) COMPARE Saved Data Samples in GROUPS.....Data Sampled Closer Together in TIME & LOCATION Provides Excellent ELEVATION CHANGE Information. Even if the Weather Shifts.....which it will.....Data Points Sampled Closest Together in Distance & Time using Same Calibration OFFSET will provide Valuable Insight useful for Accurately Estimating Heights & Altitudes.
6) Use "Save FAVs" to MAP Feature -> Creating a Custom Map of "Estimated Elevations" showcasing your Amazing Trip!
7) COPY Datasets & FAVs to NOTES or email -> Clear LOCATIONS & DATA after Each Excursion or Multi-Day Trip (to simplify organization)
Important Note: PressureGauge6 records Elevation "Offsets" when using the SAVE Feature....making it possible to compare Multiple Datasets using Different Calibration Settings. By Sampling a few of the Same Locations when possible, Barometric Pressure Weather System related Shifts in "Estimated Altitude" Data can be reduced & identified -> improving Accuracy & Precision. Stable Atmospheric Pressure Yields the Best Data.
