When the network goes down, what can your phone still do for you?

Rescue Pocket is an offline-first preparedness app for Taiwan. Official-source guides, facility data and SOS tools stay on your phone; detailed maps and road data download by county. Core features work in airplane mode. No sign-up; every feature is free to use.

Offline AEDs, shelters and reference routes

・Bundled points cover shelters, emergency hospitals, AEDs, police and fire/rescue units across Taiwan, plus about 78,000 air-raid shelters nationwide. Official police/fire numbers can open the system dialer or be copied; the app never auto-dials.
・Download detailed street maps by county. File size and mobile-data confirmation appear first.
・With map and signed road data installed, same-county reference routes run offline. They are not turn-by-turn navigation; compass guidance remains available.
・Without downloads, nearby facilities still show bearing and straight-line distance; poor GPS never shows fake distances.

Guidance from official sources

・27 topics and 39 cards cover disasters, outages, sheltering, mountain emergencies and first aid.
・Each card cites its authority, URL and retrieval date. Machine-assisted translations are labeled; Chinese remains authoritative.
・The app never writes life-safety steps of its own and never generates them with AI.
・Search all cards in Chinese or English.

Offline rescue location and My Places

・My Rescue Location shows large current or last-reliable WGS84 coordinates, accuracy and time. Copy them offline or clear the saved fix.
・Save up to 10 private places from your current location or offline map, then use compass or installed same-county road data as a reference.
・Share places by offline QR code; recipients choose what to import. QR creation and scanning stay on device; nothing is uploaded.

Adult CPR/AED, one tap from home

・Adult CPR/AED is one tap from both normal and emergency home screens.
・The offline 110 BPM metronome follows Taiwan's National Fire Agency range and can continue in the background or with the screen off.
・It only paces compressions. For an AED, follow the voice prompts of the physical device.

Signaling and help

・Distress beacon: screen wake, SOS Morse flash, whistle and large help message; flash and whistle can run together.
・One-tap torch.
・"I'm safe" SMS: the message and your GPS coordinates are pre-filled, then handed to your own messaging app to send. Rescue Pocket never sends messages for you.

Get ready before it happens

・Offline readiness check: see whether maps, contacts, go-bag, rescue location and SOS tools are ready.
・Emergency kit checklist: 44 officially recommended items by default. Add, rename or remove items, track expiry dates and get reminders.
・Add, edit and delete emergency contacts stored only on your device for safety-message recipients.
・Skills to practice: securing furniture, water safety, basic knots and distress signals.
