About RigCalc: Drilling Calculator
RigCalc puts the everyday drilling calculations you need on the rig floor, in the mud pit, or in the office into one fast, offline app. Enter your values, get the answer with units, and see the
full formula and working behind it.
Built for drillers, drilling engineers, mud engineers, cementers, well-site supervisors and students of petroleum engineering.
WHAT YOU GET
• 40+ oilfield calculators across eight categories
• Advanced Hydraulics: multi-section annular analysis with ECD, pressure loss and flow regime
• Step-by-step working for every result: formula, substituted values and final answer
• Export any calculation or hydraulics report to PDF and share it
• Calculation history so you can reload previous inputs
• Favorites for the formulas you use most
• Search across all calculators
• Light and dark themes
• No account, no ads, no internet connection required
BASIC CALCULATIONS
Annular velocity, flow rate for a required annular velocity, annular capacity, volume of cuttings drilled, mud buoyancy factor, estimated formation temperature, free point constant, stuck pipe free
length, drill pipe steel displacement, mud pump output per stroke, pressure test volume, temperature conversion.
PRESSURE
Hydrostatic pressure, pressure drop and loss of overbalance when POOH with dry or wet pipe, slug volume and weight for a length of dry pipe, usable volume per surface and subsea accumulator bottle.
WELL CONTROL
MASP, maximum mud weight, maximum shut-in casing pressure.
HYDRAULICS
Annular velocity, plus the Advanced Hydraulics module: define casing and open-hole sections, choose Bingham Plastic or manually entered pressure loss per section, and get annular velocity, critical
velocity, laminar/turbulent regime, cumulative pressure loss and equivalent circulating density at each depth, with ECD and pressure-loss profile charts.
DIRECTIONAL DRILLING
Dog leg severity, available WOB in deviated holes, approximate TVD.
MUD
Barite required to increase mud weight, volume increase from barite addition, starting volume for a final volume of kill mud, dilution volume required.
CEMENT
Single slurry to surface, single slurry to TOC, theoretical displacement.
HANDY FORMULAS
Area of a triangle and circle, volume of a cuboid and sphere.
SHOW YOUR WORK
Every result opens a calculation view listing the inputs, the formula, the formula with your values substituted and each step to the answer. Useful for checking numbers with a colleague, teaching,
or attaching to a report.
WORKS OFFLINE
All calculations run on the device. Nothing is uploaded and no data is collected. Your history and favorites stay on your phone.
DISCLAIMER
RigCalc is a calculation aid for qualified drilling and engineering personnel. Results should be independently verified before being used for operational decisions. Always follow applicable company
