About RPN 49G
The HP 49G of 1999 took the HP 48 further: a computer algebra system built in, a larger display, an equation writer, 2 MB of flash memory and RPN or algebraic entry. RPN 49G puts one on your iPhone, iPad and Mac.
RPN 49G is not an imitation: it emulates the calculator's hardware — the Saturn processor, the memory controllers, the flash memory and its banks, the 131×64 display, the keyboard, the timers — and runs HP's original ROM, so it behaves exactly as the real machine: every function, every menu, every flag.
THE CALCULATOR
• RPN with an unlimited stack, or algebraic entry, at your choice
• The computer algebra system: exact arithmetic, expansion and factorisation, derivatives, integrals, limits and series, equation and differential equation solving, matrices and linear algebra, step-by-step mode
• The Equation Writer, the matrix writer, the numeric solver, statistics, units, complex numbers, base conversions, financial calculations
• Graphing: functions, polar, parametric, differential equations, statistics, 3D
• The flash memory and its port 2, as on the calculator

ABOUT THE ROM
The app contains no HP software. On first launch HP's ROM package is downloaded from GitHub, where the app keeps a copy of the one published on hpcalc.org, the community archive where HP's calculator ROMs are published; the image is then kept on your device.
