About Scratchy: Scratch Art
Scratch away the black and something colourful appears underneath. That is the whole idea, and anyone gets it in about two seconds - no instructions, no lessons, no mess to clean up afterwards.
Scratchy is seven ways to play, and every one of them is unlocked the moment you open the app.
MAGIC PICTURES
Over a hundred hidden pictures - sea turtles, planets, big cats, cars, dinosaurs. Peek windows give away just enough to make a card irresistible before the first scratch.
SCRATCH THE DOTS
Every picture is also a dot-to-dot. Join the numbers to draw the animal's outline, then scratch the rest away to see the whole thing. Seven difficulty levels, from Easy to Crazy.
MAZES
Scratch a path from start to finish. Bigger sizes bring fading walls and hidden goals, so a maze stays interesting long after the first one is solved.
COLOURING PAGES
The outlines are drawn for you, in every mode that takes a picture. Fill them in with whatever colours you like.
PASS THE SQUIGGLE
A few suggestive lines land on an empty page. What can you see in them? Turn it into a picture - alone, or hand the device over and let someone else finish what you started.
FREE SCRATCH
A blank black page with rainbow hiding underneath. Scratch anywhere and the colour follows your finger.
FREE DRAW
Dozens of brushes - glow pens, charcoal, watercolour, stamps and scatter tips - plus a full colour picker, symmetry and mandala modes.
DRAW TOGETHER
Invite someone onto the same page and watch their strokes appear as they make them. Or send a Mystery Card: a sealed scratch card that opens from a link, so whoever receives it scratches your picture open themselves.
NO APP NEEDED TO OPEN A CARD
Send a Mystery Card to someone who has never heard of Scratchy and it still works. Tapping the link opens an App Clip - a tiny instant version of Scratchy that runs without installing anything - and they can scratch the card open right there.
THE WAY IT SHOULD WORK
• Every mode unlocked from the start. Nothing to buy inside, ever.
• No ads. No third-party analytics. No sign-in and no account.
• Drawing works completely offline.
• Everything saves itself to a gallery you can come back to.
• Export any picture as an image, or replay it as a timelapse video.
• A calm dark interface that does not shout.
A NOTE ON PRIVACY
Your artwork stays on your device unless you choose to share it. Sending a Mystery Card or inviting someone to draw together uploads that drawing, and any photo in it, so the other person can open it - that is the only time anything leaves the device. See our privacy policy for the details.

DRAW TOGETHER, LIVE
Invite someone onto the same page and watch their strokes appear as they make them.
SEND A MYSTERY CARD
Post a sealed scratch card as a link. Whoever opens it scratches your picture away themselves - and they do not need the app to do it, because the link opens an instant version of Scratchy on its own.
FIND YOUR WAY AROUND
A short welcome tour the first time you open the app, and every mode now explains itself the first time you try it.
ALSO NEW
Crop a photo after you pick it, in any mode that takes one. Your recent drawings sit on the home screen. Mazes are built to fit your screen however you hold it, and dot-to-dot outlines are clearer on many more cards.
The controls have been redesigned too: a bottom toolbar that slides out of the way while you draw, and pages that open filling the screen.
