A gentle nudge to put your device down when it’s hard to stop.
ScreenRecess lets you choose a group of apps, give them one shared usage allowance, and pause access for a timed break. When recess ends, access returns and a fresh allowance begins. Use, recess, repeat.
ONE ALLOWANCE ACROSS YOUR APPS
Time in all selected apps adds up together. Switching apps, stepping away, or locking your device keeps your progress. A new day doesn't reset the allowance.
A CYCLE YOU CHOOSE
Start with 10 minutes of app use followed by a 15-minute recess. Choose a 5/15, 10/15, or 15/15 preset, or set an allowance from 1 to 60 minutes and a recess from 15 to 60 minutes, in one-minute increments.
TAKE A BREAK EARLY
Tap Take Recess Now to begin your full recess before you use up the allowance. Check the countdown in ScreenRecess while your selected apps are paused. Recess can finish and access can return while ScreenRecess is closed.
YOU CONTROL MONITORING
Choose apps with Apple's Screen Time picker. Review settings changes before saving. Turn Enable Monitoring off to remove ScreenRecess's restrictions and cancel a recess; turn it back on to start a fresh allowance.

Your app selections, recorded usage, and local diagnostic history stay on your device. No account, ads, or subscription. One purchase includes the full app.
ScreenRecess measures combined selected-app use, not scrolling gestures. Usage is recorded in completed minutes and can undercount actual use because of system delays, monitoring gaps, and partial minutes lost when observation windows renew. Changing your selection can also lose unreported use. Blocking may begin later than the configured allowance; the app doesn't provide an exact remaining-use timer.
