Simple Expenses opens on a keypad. Type the amount, tap a category, save. That is the whole app.
No account. No sign-in. No syncing. Nothing you record ever leaves your phone.
RECORD IN SECONDS
• The keypad is the first screen — no menu to open, no form to fill in
• The category you used last is already selected, so the usual case is one tap fewer
• Add a note or back-date an entry from the two chips above the keypad
• Home screen quick actions jump straight to Add expense or Add income
A MONTH THAT MATCHES YOUR PAYDAY
• Close the cycle yourself on the day you are paid, whenever that falls
• Whatever is left over is carried into the new cycle for you — and you can type a
different figure if the app has drifted from the cash you actually have
• Forget to close one and it closes itself at the end of the month, so nothing runs on forever
• Every closed cycle keeps its own totals to step back to

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
There is no network code in this app at all — no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party SDKs, and no permissions to grant. Your entries live in a database on your device and nowhere else.
One thing worth knowing: because nothing is uploaded anywhere, your entries are only as safe as your device backup. Deleting the app deletes its data with it.

The most-asked-for additions, and a fix for the thing that caused the most mistyped amounts.
Credit card
• The card joins cash and bank as a third place to spend from. What goes on it is owed, not held.
• The bills tab shows what went on the card this month, what is left to settle, and a Pay button that records the payment as a transfer — so nothing is ever counted as spending twice.
• Turn it off in Settings if you do not use one.
Adjust a balance
• Tap a balance on the first screen, type what is really there, and the app works out the difference and records it.
• An adjustment counts as neither income nor spending, so the summary keeps telling the truth.
Keypad
• Now laid out like a calculator, with 1 on the bottom row. Switch back to the phone layout in Settings.
Entries
• What is left in the cycle now sits at the top of the list.
• Every day carries what came in, what went out, and the day's own total — green when it ended up, red when it ended down.
• Days paid for from more than one place show the split between cash, bank and card.
• Three views to choose from: detailed, compact, or grouped by category.
Monthly bills
• Say which month a bill starts in. The months before it owe nothing.
• A stop button for anything you have finished paying — the months already ticked off are kept.
• Change what a bill costs and choose whether that is this month only, from now on, or every month.
• Tick a whole month off in one tap, and anything still owed is now plainly red.
Savings and investments
• Move money into a pot, or take it back out, straight from the keypad — the pot follows along.
• Savings and investments are kept visibly apart, and each currency is totalled on its own line.
Also
• Pick a category icon from a laid-out grid instead of hunting through the emoji keyboard.
• The first tab is now called Transaction.
• The summary suggests closing a cycle on payday, so each cycle is exactly the money you have to make last.
• Fixed: the summary could show zeros over a cycle that had entries in it.
