Snorkel combines dedicated tools for patterns, arpeggios, chords, melodies and drums with deep randomization and hands-on editing. Generate something surprising, keep what you like, and shape it into your own music, all on your iPad.

Start with a bassline, find a chord progression, add a melody and build a beat. Each part has its own interface, designed around how that part works. Explore freely, stay in the flow, and have fun.

Patterns: Basslines and Melodies
A grid-based step sequencer for sketching basslines, melodies and rhythmic ideas fast. Tap steps, explore variations, and hear your pattern take shape.

Arpeggiator: Hooks and Movement
Turn chords into flowing lines and evolving hooks with a choice of play modes and a programmable gate grid. Shape the movement and rhythm until it fits your track.

Chords: Pads and Harmony
A chord generator with a built-in gater effect. Pick a chord type, shape the rhythm, and get lush pads or choppy stabs without touching a keyboard.

Melody: Leads and Phrases
Generate melodies that follow your song's chords, then edit notes directly in the grid. Adjust Spice for more adventurous results, lock favorite bars and regenerate the rest, or keep the rhythm while exploring new pitches. Build phrases up to 32 bars long.

Drums: Beats and Grooves
A sample-based drum engine with its own step grid. Build beats quickly and layer them with your other parts.

DEEP RANDOMIZATION

Explore fresh patterns, arpeggios, chords, melodies, drum grooves and synth sounds. Random generates new ideas; Mutate creates variations on what you already have. Everything stays editable, so a surprise can become a starting point you make your own.

BRING YOUR IDEAS TOGETHER

Combine your bassline, pad, hook, melody and beat with the built-in Sequencer. Arrange scenes, shape the chord progression and balance the parts into a complete song idea.

SHAPE EVERY SOUND

Patterns, Arpeggiator, Chords and Melody each have an independent synth voice with three oscillators, dual filters, four LFOs and four envelopes. Give every part its own character, from a rounded bass to a bright lead or an evolving pad.

Each synth engine has its own effects and EQ. Add movement with chorus, flanger or phaser, explore tape and ping-pong delays, dial in saturation and lo-fi grit, or add space with reverbs including shimmer and ducked modes. Finish with a three-band EQ and low-cut and high-cut filters.
