About SOSAlert – Emergency Safety
SOS Alert helps you reach the people you trust when something goes wrong.
HOW IT WORKS
Add up to five emergency contacts. When you need help, press and hold the SOS button for three seconds. A five-second countdown follows, and you can cancel it. Then, depending on the options you have switched on, SOS Alert:
• Finds your location and opens a message to your emergency contacts with a map link. The message is filled in for you. You tap Send in Apple's Messages screen, because iPhone does not let any app send a text on its own.
• Opens the call screen for your first emergency contact. After you confirm the call, the other contacts are listed in order with a Call button each.
• Takes a photo with each camera and records a short audio clip while the app is open. iPhone's green or orange indicator shows while the camera or microphone is in use.
• When you are signed in, uploads the photos and audio and prepares a second message with a link to them. Anyone who has the link can open the file until it expires.
YOU STAY IN CONTROL
Choose which actions are on in SOS Settings, and change permissions at any time in iPhone Settings. Permissions are explained during setup, not in the middle of an SOS. An account (email) is required. You can delete your account inside the app (Account, then Delete account) or on our website.
GOOD TO KNOW
• SOS Alert is not an emergency service. It does not contact the police, ambulance or fire services. If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.
• Nothing is sent without you: you tap Send on the message and Call on the call screen. SOS Alert keeps the app open for these steps and does not run in the background.
• Texts and calls need a SIM card or iMessage and signal. A text may not be delivered, and the app cannot tell whether a call was answered.
• Uploading photos and audio needs an internet connection.
• Location is used only when you use the app. SOS Alert does not track you in the background.
