About Syllables Splash
Syllables Splash: Phonological Awareness Adventure
Dive into Literacy! The Professional Tool for Syllable Segmentation and Early Reading Success.
Syllables Splash is a vibrant, multiplayer educational experience designed to master the art of syllable segmentation—the essential building block of phonological awareness. Set in a high-fidelity underwater world optimized for the M3 iPad Air, this app bridges the gap between fun gameplay and serious clinical progress.
Why Syllables Matter
Phonological awareness is the strongest predictor of reading success. Without the ability to break long words into readable chunks, children often resort to guessing. Syllables Splash provides nearly 1,000 professional images and words, ranging from simple 1-syllable targets to complex 4-syllable challenges, ensuring every child finds their "zone of proximal development".
Engaging Underwater Gameplay
Submersible Learning: Every turn reveals a high-resolution image or written word in the submarine viewing window.
Interactive Feedback: Tap the correct number of syllables (1–4). Correct answers earn interactive rewards, while incorrect choices trigger clever mini-animations that gently eliminate the wrong options.
Scaffolding on Demand: Use the "Help" feature to summon the animated turtle, who claps out the syllables to provide a visual and auditory hint.
Advanced Clinical Customization
Designed by Barbara Fernandes (MS, CCC-SLP) and the Smarty Ears team, this app offers unparalleled control for professionals:
Adaptive Difficulty: Enable "Auto Level Up" to automatically increase challenge based on performance.
Target Mastery: Select specific syllable types (1, 2, 3, or 4) to focus on a student’s specific phonetic needs.
Multi-Format Support: Switch instantly between Image Mode for younger learners and Written Word Mode for older students enhancing literacy through visual print.
Professional Data & Reporting [NEW]
Transition from simple scores to deep clinical insights. Syllables Splash now tracks:
Total Trials & Accuracy %: Automated mastery tracking across 8+ sessions.
Phonetic Error Tracking: View a list of specific "Missed Words" to identify phonological patterns.
Independence Metrics: Track how often a student required hints versus independent success.
Seamless Export: Generate professional PDF report cards to email, print, or sync with the Therapy Report Center.
Core Features
Multiplayer Support: Engage up to 4 students simultaneously with individual data tracking.
Common Core Aligned: Meets Kindergarten/1st Grade Language Foundations standards (CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.K.2.b).
Retina Graphics: Hand-drawn underwater assets optimized for the 13-inch M3 display.
Expansive Vocabulary: Nearly 1,000 stimuli to prevent repetition and build receptive language.
Equip your students with the tools to "chunk" words and read with confidence. Download Syllables Splash today!
