About Tap & Learn English
Tap a picture and hear the English word.
Tap & Learn English is a picture dictionary for young children: 1,846 illustrated words, from animals and food to vehicles, space, flags and the alphabet.
Every word is spoken in US English or UK English, and one tap switches between them.
No ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription, and no internet connection needed.
WHAT'S INSIDE
• 1,846 words on 213 pages, in 17 categories
• An illustration on every card
• US and UK English audio for every word (3,692 clips)
• Flags of 218 countries and regions
• The alphabet from A to Z, capital and small letters together
THE 17 CATEGORIES
Animals · Plants & Nature · Food & Drinks · Vehicles & Transport · Home & Everyday Things · People, Body & Clothes · School & Learning · Toys, Hobbies & Sports · Music & Art · Town, Places & Jobs · Tools, Machines & Technology · Earth, Weather & Environment · Space · Colors, Shapes, Numbers & Time · Actions, Feelings & Positions · Countries, Regions & Flags · Alphabet
US OR UK ENGLISH
Tap "US" or "UK" at the top of the screen. 97 words change with the setting, so truck becomes lorry, cookie becomes biscuit and airplane becomes aeroplane, and the voice changes too. US English is read by a male voice and UK English by a female voice. Even the letter Z follows along: "zee" or "zed". The app remembers your choice.
ENGLISH PLUS YOUR LANGUAGE
Choose from 20 display languages and regions, including Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic. The English word always stays on the card, and the second line shows the word in the language you picked. With an English display language, cards show English only.
EASY FOR LITTLE HANDS
• Tap a card to hear one clear word; tap again to hear it from the start
• Swipe, drag the page slider, or open Contents to jump to any category
• On iPad, two pages appear side by side
• The app reopens on the last page you viewed
• No scores, timers or wrong answers, so children explore at their own pace
FOR GROWN-UPS
• All pictures and audio are stored in the app, so it works on a plane, in the car or anywhere without a signal
• No account, no sign-in, and no data collected about your child
• No analytics and no advertising code
• Links to the privacy policy, support page and App Store review open only after a grown-up check (a simple addition question)
• The pronunciation audio was generated in advance and is stored in the app; nothing is streamed
Recommended for ages 4 and up, through elementary school.
