The Tracing Room

**THE TRACING ROOM — Masonic Ritual Memory System**

Memorising ritual is one of the oldest challenges in Freemasonry. The Tracing Room is the modern answer — a complete memory system built specifically for Craft Masons, combining the proven science of spaced repetition with the classical art of memory.

**LEARN FASTER. REMEMBER LONGER.**

Most Brethren learn ritual by rote — reading and re-reading until the words stick. The Tracing Room takes a different approach. It breaks your ritual into small, structured chunks, then drills you on exactly the parts you struggle with, leaving the parts you know alone. The result is faster learning, deeper retention, and real confidence in the lodge room.

**HOW IT WORKS**

Paste your ritual text, upload a PDF, or photograph a ritual book with the built-in scanner. The app does the rest.

*E-Beats* — your text is chunked into lines of four to seven words, grouped into beats. Small enough to memorise. Structured enough to recall in sequence.

*R-Prompts* — each E-Beat is reduced to its first letters, punctuation, and key markers. Read the prompt, recall the words. This is active recall — the single most effective memorisation technique known to cognitive science.

*Leitner Five-Box System* — a time-tested spaced repetition method. Beats you know move to longer intervals. Beats you struggle with come back daily. Every review session focuses your effort exactly where it is needed.

*Listen Mode* — hear your ritual read aloud with word-by-word highlighting and full voice and speed control. Ideal for learning on the move.

*Lodge Floor Plan* — pin E-Beats to officer positions around the lodge. Walk the room deosil as a memory palace, anchoring each beat to a place. The method of loci, as the classical masters practised it.

*Multi-Officer Rehearsal* — assign a different voice to each officer and rehearse your lines in full dialogue context. Hear the cues, deliver your response.

*Masonic Glossary* — twenty-five core Masonic terms with definitions, etymologies, and category tags. Add your own custom entries for lodge-specific language.

*Progress Tracker* — see your Leitner box distribution at a glance. Watch your beats move from Daily through to Every Sixteen Days as your confidence grows.

**YOUR RITUAL STAYS YOURS**

All text processing happens on your device. The optional OCR scanning feature uses the Anthropic Claude API — you supply your own API key, stored only on your device, never shared with anyone.

**BUILT BY A MASON, FOR MASONS**

From the rough ashlar to the perfect. The Tracing Room exists because ritual deserves to be learned properly — with method, with confidence, and with the satisfaction of knowing you are truly prepared.

So mote it be.
