About tone - photos, printed
tone turns photos, drawings, and text into artwork with the character of stencil printing.
Layer up to 8 images, finger drawings, and text objects in one composition. Use up to 5 physical ink plates across the artwork: share a plate to print objects in one color, or separate them for independent misregistration.
Select an object on the preview and move, scale, or rotate it directly. Crop each image, adjust every corner radius independently, and set each margin with on-canvas handles.
Drawing includes five brush sizes plus undo and redo. Text offers ten typefaces with controls for density, bleed, weight, spacing, and leading. Both pass through the same halftone and ink process as photos.
Simple mode explores color, screen, and frame combinations with random buttons. Customize mode exposes the individual controls, while Advanced mode also lets you edit which plates each object uses.
Save the entire composition—including the frame, crops, plate structure, text, and drawings—as a custom preset. Apply the same setup to another photo whenever you like.
Save finished artwork to your photo library. For physical production, export print-ready artwork or per-ink separations with finished dimensions, bleed, Standard / Japanese crop marks, true-size imposition, and PNG / JPEG / PDF output.
tone supports iPhone and iPad in portrait, landscape, and Split View. Your latest artwork and editing settings stay on device and are restored automatically.
