At first glance, Wildfern presents as a simple personal diary. This diary acts as a decoy app, helping protect the privacy of the user if their device is viewed by another person. A separate protected area provides access to the DV journal and its safety-focused features.

Within the protected DV area, users can record incidents and maintain a private history of events. Entries can include dates and times, written descriptions, severity information, categories and flags, photographs, files and audio recordings. This can help users keep an organised and accurate personal record over time.
