Xiezi Wenwen: Chinese Strokes

Know a Chinese character but cannot remember how to write it? Ask in Mandarin or type the character, then watch its stroke order in a tianzige writing grid.

LANGUAGE NOTE
The app interface is in Simplified Chinese. Voice queries use Mandarin Chinese. English store information does not add an English app interface or English speech recognition. Screenshots show the actual Chinese interface.

TWO WAYS TO LOOK UP CHARACTERS
Press and hold the voice input area, say “学习的学怎么写” to ask about 学, then release. Or tap the keyboard icon, enter Chinese characters such as 学 or 学习, and submit with the keyboard's Done key. Keyboard lookup accepts Chinese characters directly; it does not interpret pinyin or spoken-question grammar.

SEE EACH STROKE
Watch strokes appear in order within a writing grid. Use the animation to observe structure and stroke positions before practicing on paper. Stroke data is bundled with the app; coverage depends on the included character library, and some uncommon forms may be unavailable.

CONTROL THE PACE
Tap a playing card to pause. Tap again to resume from the same position. After playback finishes, tap to replay from the beginning. Settings offer slow, standard and fast speeds, plus a repeat playback switch.

LOOK UP WORDS AND MULTIPLE CHARACTERS
Query several characters together and swipe horizontally through the results. Pause or resume all cards with the control at the top, or control an individual card by tapping it.

ON IPHONE AND IPAD
The layout adapts to available window space in portrait and landscape. Larger windows can show cards side by side; narrower windows let you swipe between them. Continue with another voice or keyboard query whenever needed.

FOCUSED ON EVERYDAY WRITING
Use it when you forget a written form, review vocabulary, prepare a reading exercise, or compare stroke order with your writing on paper. No account, ads or in-app purchases.

SPEECH AND PRIVACY
Voice lookup needs microphone and speech recognition permission. Apple speech services may process audio and may require a network connection. Recognition depends on pronunciation, surroundings, device settings and service availability; check the displayed characters before studying them. Keyboard lookup and bundled stroke playback do not depend on speech recognition.

The app does not save audio recordings or upload them to a developer-operated server. Playback preferences and state used for onboarding and review prompts stay on the device. See the privacy policy for details.
