About XPipe Academy: Pipe & Weld
XPipe Academy is a learning game for pipefitters and welders, from the makers of XPipe Pro. Five minutes a shift, and you learn why things happen on the job — not just what the rule says.
YOU GUESS FIRST
Every card starts with a situation from a real job and a decision. You commit to an answer before anything is explained. An answer to a question you have already asked yourself is the one you keep.
SAY HOW SURE YOU ARE
Guessing, I think so, or sure — one tap before you see the result. Sure and wrong is the best moment to learn: the tempting idea is named and taken apart, and the card comes back in the same shift. A lucky guess does not count as known.
CAUSE → EFFECT
After each answer comes the chain: cause, mechanism, effect. A fitter who understands why the weld pulls the upright over can deal with the job no textbook covered.
THE WELDING BENCH
Turn the current, travel speed, drag angle and arc length, strike the arc and see the bead, its penetration and its defects. Change one knob and you are asked first which way penetration and width will go. Seven missions — a 3 mm wall, wind on a scaffold, rods from an open box — and three where the job is to break the weld on purpose: undercut, cold lap, slag. A defect you made yourself is never forgotten.
11 MODULES, 83 CARDS
• Safety: what can kill you — gases, arc, fire, pressure
• Pipe and material — stainless, sizes, expansion
• Measuring and fit-up — offsets, cut lengths, flanges
• Arc and pool — current, speed, gas, rods
• Weld detective — symptom, cause, cure
• Heat and distortion — shrinkage, sequence, preheat
• Inspection and testing — pressure tests, NDT
• TIG on pipe — tungsten, purge, gas
• Flanges and bolting — gaskets, sequence, torque
• Reading isometrics — directions, dimensions, elevations, symbols
• Supports, falls, valves — how a pipe lives after fit-up
Safety comes first and opens the rest: each module unlocks once the one before it is half known.
BUILT ON HOW PEOPLE LEARN
• Spaced repetition — reviews come back just as you start to forget
• Mixed practice — no one on site tells you which chapter a problem is from
• A missed card returns a few cards later
• Worked solutions for the sums, offered at a small price in XP
• Calibration — see whether your "sure" really means sure
• A gentle streak that forgives one missed day
From helper to master: earn XP, move up the ranks — Apprentice, Pipefitter, Welder, Foreman, Master.
The exact numbers on your job come from the WPS, the electrode box and the code in force; the cards teach the mechanism and say so where it matters.
Polish and English. Works offline. No account, no ads, no data collected — your progress stays on your phone.
