Where you're born decides more about your life than almost anything you'll ever choose. 1in8b Life lets you feel that.

Press "Be born" and a point skips across the world map until it settles on one place: a city in Nigeria, a village in India, an apartment in Seoul, a farm in Bolivia. The odds are real. Countries with more babies come up more often, just as they do in life.

Then you live. Year by year, from your first word to your last breath.

A WHOLE LIFE, IN REAL NUMBERS
Your chances of surviving childhood, going to school, finding work, earning a living and growing old come from real data for 172 countries and territories. That data covers life expectancy, child mortality, income and inequality, schooling, fertility, health costs, conflict, natural hazards and more.

YOUR CHOICES STILL MATTER
Each year you decide where to spend your free time: study, career, family, health, faith, rest. You'll face hundreds of decisions: stay in school or help your family, move to the city, marry, have children, buy a home, invest, lend a friend money, flee a war, fight an illness. Every option shows its cost, its chances and its trade-offs. Effort counts, but circumstance pushes back.

THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU
Parents with names and jobs, brothers and sisters, a spouse, children and grandchildren, friends, pets. They grow up, grow old, move away and pass on. Your identity card, family panel and wealth breakdown show your whole life at a glance.

BORN IN THE SAME SECOND
Three other babies are born at the very moment you are, somewhere else in the world. Their lives unfold by the same rules. You'll hear how they go.

A LIFE RECORD TO KEEP
When your life ends, you get its full story: the turning points, the people, the numbers, how you compared with the rest of the world. Every life becomes a star in your sky of past lives. Share any of them as an image.
