About AircraftIQ
AircraftIQ is a field guide to everything that flies, and a way to name the plane over your head.
IDENTIFY ANYTHING
Over 8,000 aircraft, from airliners and business jets to warbirds, helicopters and gliders. Pick what you can see (wings, engines, tail) and watch the list narrow. Every type has a recognition card with the cues spotters use.
POINT AT THE SKY
Sky shows the aircraft around you right now, with type, airline, route and height. Point your phone at a plane and AircraftIQ picks it out.
SNAP A PHOTO
Take or choose a photo and AircraftIQ names the aircraft, matched against the traffic that was flying where and when the photo was taken. Location and other metadata are removed before the photo leaves your phone.
LIVE MAP
Every aircraft in view, with satellite imagery and rain radar. Tap a plane for its photo, route and guide.
ASK
Describe what you saw ("four engines and a hump behind the cockpit") and get an answer. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence it's answered on the device and nothing is sent.
SIRI, WIDGETS AND IPHONE DUO
Ask Siri "What's that plane?" without opening the app. Widgets show what's overhead and your latest catches. On iPhone Duo and iPad, the map, aircraft pages and Identify open into two panes.
YOUR LOGBOOK
Every aircraft you identify is logged automatically, one per airframe per day, with first-of-type "lifers" marked.
No account, no ads, no tracking.
Live traffic comes from public, community-run ADS-B feeds and can be incomplete, especially for military and light aircraft.

Sky is calmer: the plane silhouette no longer sweeps across the screen when you point at an aircraft. Sightings still go straight into your logbook.
