• A completely rebuilt flowchart block. Build and edit diagrams right on the canvas: add nodes and connect them with a click, drag them anywhere, and edit labels in place. Choose node shapes (rectangle, rounded, diamond, decision, start/end, document) and connector styles (straight, square, rounded, or curved), tidy the whole thing with one-tap Rearrange, follow a node's link, and align the diagram left, centre, or right. Cleaner connectors, readable labels, and a calmer, more polished look.

CONNECT YOUR KNOWLEDGE
Bookend is more than a collection of separate pages. Its objects have stable identities, so references survive renaming and reorganising. Link to information elsewhere in a book, mirror it without creating another copy, and reuse values across pages.
Declare variables directly in your writing and use expressions to calculate or transform them. Refer to values on other pages or in tables. Dependencies are tracked, so you can see when generated results need refreshing.
TURN NOTES INTO TOOLS
Place interactive components alongside ordinary writing. Work with formula tables, charts, flowcharts, search results, word counts, timelines and structure maps. Create reusable custom widgets with typed inputs, variables and expressions, then use them throughout a book.
A study notebook can contain reference tables and calculators. A manuscript can track word counts. A project book can combine notes, tasks and progress. You decide how elaborate it becomes.
OPTIONAL AI, ON YOUR TERMS
Bookend has an AI assistant and configurable AI workflows, but no bundled AI service. Connect a local Ollama model or a compatible hosted API using your own endpoint and, where required, credentials. No AI provider or subscription is required to use Bookend.
Use AI to draft and revise text, work with document structure, propose edits for your review and run reusable workflows. AI-generated results are retained rather than regenerated every time you open a page. You control when they run or refresh.
AI connections are optional. Content sent to an external provider is governed by that provider’s policies. Without AI configured, Bookend remains a fully functional offline notebook.
PORTABLE FILES, PRACTICAL EXPORTS
Your books are portable .bookend files, not entries locked inside an account. Save them in locations you control, including supported file-provider locations. Work offline, and choose your own backup or sync arrangements.
Export a page, chapter, section or whole book to PDF, Word (DOCX), HTML, RTF or EPUB. Customisable export profiles let you adjust typography, page layout, titles and included content.
